UFC eyeing Toronto and Vancouver for shows in 2010, expo possible

The UFC has gone on record countless times as saying Canada is the “Mecca” of mixed martial arts. Their shows in Canada have been a blinding success, so it’s good news for them and Canadian fans alike that the UFC are planning to return their next year.

Speaking at the UFC 100 Fan Expo, Lorenzo Fertitta speaks about the UFC’s next potential trips to Canada.

“We're in discussions with the government about them changing its laws and we feel very positive about it. Vancouver is somewhere we've made a lot of progress. We've actually pencilled in our June pay-per-view for Vancouver of next year.”

“We're going to be in Toronto. I guarantee it. And it will be the biggest mixed martial arts event in North America.”

With the Canadian market being so lucrative, breaking new ground in Canada is like finding an open gold mine. Short of New York, Toronto is one of the market’s the UFC have been fighting hardest for.
