MMABay Insight: Nick Osipczak
Continuing on the series, this time we look at Ultimate Fighter team UK member Nick Osipczak. Well known on the UK scene and former training partner of Michael Bisping, Nick has a wealth of talent and you can tell by his fight on the last episode of The Ultimate Fighter.
Speaking to Nick, we got an insight into what makes the guy tick.
Can you tell us a little bit about how you got started in martial arts?
Started training kung fu at Loughborough University when I was 18, did this for two years then got into MMA, trained at various clubs. Currently training at Rough House and Leicester Shoot.
How do you like to fight? Can you tell us a little bit about your style?I like to think I’m an all rounded fighter, and I like to fight with strategy in mind. I am a tall welterweight (6'2") so I try and make the most of my reach. Some of my favourite fighters fight with a fearless style as they have faith in their abilities, and this is what I aim to emulate.
What's been your favourite fight so far and why?By far it was my recently shown fight on TUF 9 against Mark Miller. He was a very tough opponent who was considered the favourite. I was representing my country so there was added pressure, and I KO'd him with a high kick!
How was it training with Bisping and his coaching staff from The Wolfslair?Training with Bisping and his coaches Dave and Mario was better than I could have hoped for. They're all top quality guys as well as trainers, the atmosphere was spot on every session. They pushed us hard but we had fun doing it, and I learned a lot.
If you had to pick one fight of yours you think the fans should go and watch what would it be?It’s got to be my pro debut which can be found on Youtube. I threw the guy, achieved full mount, and I knew it would be stopped soon so I performed the infamous "helicopter punch" to show off to my friends!
Thanks again Nick, and congratulations on the win, we look forward to seeing your next fight.
