A more mature Thales Leites has one eye on a UFC return in 2010
Former UFC middleweight number one contender, Thales Leites has explained that he’s become more mature since his dramatic exit from the Las Vegas based promotion last year and is eyeing a return to the octagon at some point in 2010.
Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Leites said:
“I’m more mature since I left the UFC, I started to see things with other eyes, I changed my game to follow the MMA tendency. They pay you to fight and they want entertainment. If you don’t entertain them, there’s a big line behind you wanting to fight. It’s the market. To keep yourself there, you have to do exciting fights.”
“Wanderlei (Silva) is there even losing three of his last five fights. He’s a showman, and that’s what the UFC wants. I was upset when I left the UFC, but now I feel more mature and I’m sure one day I’ll be there again.”
Leites has defeated Dean Lister and Rico Washington since being dropped by the promotion and another win could see him make a tentative return. Stay tuned to MMABay in the coming months to find out who he’ll square off with next and whether he gets his wish.
