Chuck Liddell to face Rich Franklin on April 17, mystery surrounds Ortiz

Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell looks set to take on former middleweight champion, Rich Franklin and not Tito Ortiz in his next fight inside the octagon on a card set for April 17th in Nashville, Tennessee.

A source close to the situation revealed the news earlier this week to Fighters Only Magazine, adding that “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” is not sidelined due to injury but instead “something that may significantly impact his future as a fighter.”

The hastily arranged event looks set to go head-to-head with the Strikeforce event which will also taking place in Nashville, meaning the promotions will not only be competing for television viewers, but a live audience as well. According to the report, the UFC have until Thursday to make the application to the appropriate athletic commission.
