UFC 111 - Hardy says Serra is providing valuable insight into St. Pierre
UFC welterweight number one contender, Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy has revealed that Matt Serra, the last man to defeat 170 pound champion, Georges St. Pierre, is providing valuable insight into how to get the job done against the Canadian while training together at Renzo Gracie’s facility in Manhattan.
Speaking via MMAweekly.com, Hardy said:
“He's 1-1 with GSP, obviously the first time he smoked him pretty quickly, and then the second time obviously it didn't go his way. You know he spent some time in there with him, any kind of information with a guy who's been in there with your opponent is always useful. I can sit down and talk with him, see what kind of experiences he had, and his opinions on GSP and the way he approaches the fight. It will just be an interesting experience what he can add to my game plan.”
St. Pierre however seems his usual unruffled self when asked about the pair training together, saying:
With just two weeks to go before this landmark event in Newark, New Jersey the build up to this one is likely to reach a fever pitch. Stay tuned to MMABay for more from the UFC Primetime series feature both the champion and the challenger as they prepare to collide inside the octagon.“I don't mind. can train with whoever he wants. I'm the guy he's going to face in the Octagon, and on March 27 he's not going to have anyone to be with him. It's going to be me and him in the cage, and I'm going to take care of business.”
