Mir unsure over broadcaster role with the WEC following past comments

It appears that the over the top comments made by Frank Mir just a few weeks ago directed at UFC heavyweight champion, Brock Lesnar haven’t just ticked the big man off but could ultimately cost him his role as a broadcaster for the WEC.

Speaking to MMAJunkie.com, Mir said:

“It's something that hopefully I'll be able to do in the future. Right now, I'm concentrating more on my fighting career. I can't speak for the WEC or the UFC about what contributed to any decisions or for anything moving forward. I think you'd have to ask them.”

Mir also revealed he didn’t get caught up in the storm that ensued following the comments, saying the sheltered life he leads helped him concentrate on his training.

“The blessing is that I'm kind of lazy when it comes to getting on the Internet. I don't even answer my phone that often, so I'm kind of sheltered from that type of approach. The people around me, I think they filter a great deal what I see information-wise, and a lot of times I don't ask. People go, ‘Hey, do you want to hear what was written about you?’ I go, ‘No.’”

“Like I said, I've always enjoyed commentating, and I hope to be able to do so in the future. Right now, I'm just looking at this as an opportunity to go ahead and focus on what I do inside the octagon.”

Mir was promptly replaced in the role for the last WEC event in Columbus, Ohio by “Ultimate Fighter” original, Stephan Bonnar, although it is unclear how much the proximity of Mir’s own fight to the WEC event played a part in the decision. Once UFC 111 we should get some answers on his future as a commentator.
