Anderson Silva: First and foremost Vitor Belfort was never my friend

UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva has spoken about the notion that he was once friends with top contender, Vitor Belfort, saying unlike a whole host of other Brazilian’s he has no problem facing “The Phenom”.

Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Silva said:

“First thing, he (Belfort) was never my friend. Second, a fight is fight. I’m here to fight and whoever is better prepared will win and one of us will lose. I’d be upset if I had to face Rodrigo, Rogerio, Feijao, Lyoto or even Wanderlei or Shogun, but Vitor? He’s just another opponent like everyone else.”

Silva was set to take on Belfort on April 10th in Abu Dhabi in the main event at UFC 112 before injury ruled the challenger out of the fight. Should Silva get past replacement Demian Maia, the fight with Belfort could be back on for the end of the year.
