Bonnar loses appeal against Soszynski result, rematch in June expected
UFC light heavyweight maverick, Stephan Bonnar has lost his appeal to overturn the controversial UFC 110 third round stoppage loss to Krzystztof Soszynski last month in Sydney, Australia.
According to MMAJunkie.com, Craig Waller, the Executive Director of the Combat Sports Authority of New South Wales, revealed via email:
“A review was held ... and the Combat Sports Authority of NSW did not seek to interfere with the referee's decision.”
Bonnar himself commented on the decision and the possibility of a rematch:
“It was obviously a battle between me and [the NSW commission], but as far as the fight, Dana White's a fair guy, and I'm pretty confident we'll have that rematch soon.”
According to multiple reports since the fight, the two look set to throw down for a second time on June 19th in Las Vegas at the season eleven finale of “The Ultimate Fighter”. Will we get a clean finish to what was a back-and-forth affair this time around?
