Jens Pulver admits he never thought he would go out like this
MMA legend, Jens “Lil Evil” Pulver has been speaking about standing on the precipice of his career following seven losses in his last eight fights, admitting he never thought he’d go out like this.
Speaking via FightHype.com, Pulver said:
“It broke my heart. When I was out there, I know I didn't say I retire or I quit, but at the same token, the one part that was busting me up more than anything was the fact that I couldn't keep doing that to my fans. I love them to death and their response at the weigh-ins and their response at the fights and how much they were cheering for me, I love them…I owe them way too much to break their hearts like this.”
“If anything, I never thought ever in my life that that would be a reason to retire. Now that I look at it, its like, ‘I can't keep putting them through this.’ And maybe that's why you retire because you can't keep hurting the people that you love and I love the fans man. I love everything about them and this sport. I'm not some rich dude that makes money off the fans. I don't make money off the fans. I make a living off the fans literally because they get me motivated and keep me going. So it's beyond touching.”
Despite his comments since the fight seeming to suggest that “Lil Evil” is set to retire from the sport of mixed martial arts, it appears nothing is set in stone and that the decision is still to be made. Stay tuned to MMABay in the coming days for more on this one.
