EXCLUSIVE: Bisping: “It’s an honour to be fighting Wanderlei Silva”
Hot on the heels of yesterday’s news that UK middleweight, Michael “The Count” Bisping looked likely to face Brazilian legend, Wanderlei Silva at UFC 110 on February 21st in Sydney, Australia, MMABay spoke EXCLUSIVELY to the man himself and got his thoughts on the upcoming bout.
“The Count” confirmed that he had agreed to the bout in principle and that it was simply a matter of signing on the dotted line.
“It’s an honour to be fighting someone with the legendary status of Wanderlei Silva. I recognise he’s a very, very tough fighter. I always respected him as a fighter coming up through the ranks myself. He was a fighter I always looked up to when I was younger and I’ve always enjoyed his fighting style. He’s one of my favourite fighters.”
“That said, I’ve obviously got to fight the guy, I’m looking forward to the challenge and I’ll certainly be doing my best to give the fans all over the world and especially in Australia a fantastic fight.”
Bisping put on the fight of his career last time out, defeating dangerous all-rounder, Denis Kang in the second round via TKO. He could now put himself back into real title contention with a win over a legend of the sport in February, something that could be easier said than done.
There will be much, much more from the EXCLUSIVE interview with Michael Bisping in the coming days.
