Hi James,

Thank you for taking the time to sit down with MMABay and answer a few of our questions:

MMABay - Do you feel Overeem's lack of action in MMA recently will help you during the fight?

Thompson - He’s been staying active with his other career over with K-1 and had a warm-up fight in his hometown last weekend so I think he’s going to be ready for this one.

MMABay - He has always been a dangerous striker, but seems to be even more so lately with his K-1 fights. Do you intend to keep the fight standing against him or look to take him down?

Thompson - I’m going to look to take him down when the opportunity comes and use my weight to keep him there, use the ground and pound and hope to stop him. The second option is to use the flying arm bar I’ve been working on in training. That’s a secret though, keep it to yourself. Top Secret!

MMABay - Are you excited to be competing on the first DREAM card that they have used a cage to host their fights?

Thompson - Of course. I’m lucky that I fought on the last PRIDE show, that I was on CBS and now this.

MMABay - Have you been watching “The Ultimate Fighter” and what do you think to “Kimbo Slice” now being in the UFC?
 
Thompson - I think he has potential if he works hard on his game for the next year or so. He also comes across  on TV very well and I’m sure he’s surprised a lot of people with the way he is.

MMABay - Are you still disappointed at the way your fight with “Kimbo” went when you were with EliteXC?

Thompson - Ha! That’s a bit of a underestimate mate. There was a big uproar about it back then, but over time I just had to accept that I got TKO’ed in the third round. Bullshit but such is life.

MMABay - Were you approached by anyone at EliteXC about fighting in a certain way against him like Petruzelli was?

Thompson - I was offered a knockout bonus but that’s it. Read into that what you want.

MMABay - Ok, if you were to defeat Overeem in your fight this weekend will you be looking for a move to somewhere like Strikeforce where you could challenge him for his title?

Thompson - I’m not sure, but I would like to fight New Years Eve on the Dynamite!! show.

MMABay - Do you have anyone you have in mind?

Thompson - I would love to fight Bob Sapp. It nearly happen a couple of times in the past but that’s the one I’d love.

MMABay - Do you have any sponsors you’d like to mention before we finish?
