Shane Carwin
Shane Carwin Interview
Hi Shane,
Thank you for taking the time to sit down with MMABay and answer a few of our questions:
MMABay - Gonzaga is truly your toughest test to date, he is tough on the feet and maybe better on the ground. Which aspect of his game are you most concerned about?
Shane - Executing my game plan is my focus. If I worry about what he has better then me I can't change that, I need to fight my fight and execute my game plan. I have a good ground game if he can take me down.
MMABay - We haven't really seen you go any amount of distance in your fights due to your shear dominance. How are you prepared should the fight go the full 15 minutes?
Shane - I train at 1 mile above sea level on a daily basis. I have a huge gas tank and train for 25 minute matches since that is where I want to get.
MMABay - Should you secure the win over Gonzaga, where do you think that puts you in the title picture and is there anyone specific apart from Brock you'd like to prove yourself against?
Shane - When I win I hope it puts me in line for more exposure and tough fights. Gabe is top 10 HWT and I want to be the best so I have to go through him to do this.
MMABay - Randy got you in to train him for Brock, do you think you're ready for Brock and how would you go about taking him down?
Shane - That was just a rumour someone spread. I have not trained with Randy at all. I think Brock and a few other guys are the nail in the coffin for boxing. Just wait until the fans see 500 plus pounds in the Octagon thrashing one another at a middleweights pace. Its going to be unreal and fun.
MMABay - You are a pretty big guy, who would win in a fight, you, or a gorilla and how would you take him?
Shane - My friends call me a Gorilla. My wife would not let me fight the Gorilla but I think I could get a quick double leg and win with some GnP.
MMABay - On another note you have a new website your building, do you want to tell us a bit about it?
Shane - It is a social networking site a lot like a myspace. My friends and fans can come set up pages, write blogs, post pictures etc. Its a community rather then a staunchy old website that depends on a fighter to keep it updated. I think the connectivity with the fans will end up being the best part of the site. We will see its new and we do not have a ton of members yet. You could say I am the sites "Tom". Cool thing about the site is if your a member at my site that member ship extends to a lot of other websites like bjpenn.com and others.
MMABay - Are there any sponsors you'd like to mention?
Shane - I want to thank my family, fans, Warrior Wear, Max Muscle, MTX Audio, Zappos, Trevor and my trainers.
Special thanks to Grudge Fight Wear for supporting me when I was unknown, I may have outgrown you but I will never forget you!!!
MMABay - Thanks again for your time Shane I really appreciate it. Take care.(An exclusive interview for mmabay.co.uk)
