UFC interested in making Rory MacDonald vs. Carlos Condit II
After UFC on FOX 5 this past weekend in Seattle, Washington, welterweight contender Rory MacDonald pleaded with his employers to grant him a rematch with former interim champion, Carlos Condit, the only man to defeat him in his fifteen fight mixed martial arts career, and it seems like he might just get exactly what he wants.
Speaking at the UFC on FOX 5 post-fight press conference, MacDonald said:
“I was just laying there getting beaten on, my face looked like I was the guy from “The Goonies” after. I was embarrassed about my performance and how I held myself. It did a lot of damage and I don’t think I’ve been the same person since, so I want to get that back.”
UFC President, Dana White soon added:
“I am interested in that, and I like when guys call other guys out. If that’s the fight he wants then we’ll try to make it.”
MacDonald has been on a roll ever since losing to Carlos Condit at UFC 115 in 2010, winning four fights inside the octagon in impressive fashion. Victories over Nate Diaz, Mike Pyle, Che Mills and now B.J. Penn has thrust him up the divisions ranks. Stay tuned to MMABay for more news on this situation as we get it.
