Jon Fitch labels B.J. Penn a “coward”, says he’s not welcome at AKA
UFC welterweight contender, Jon Fitch has tonight come out on the offensive when it comes to the possibility of B.J. Penn rejoining the ranks of the American Kickboxing Academy for his latest camp, labelling the former two-division champion a “coward” and saying he’s not welcome at the gym anymore.
Speaking during a recent teleconference call, Fitch said:
“Here at AKA, we’ve got fighters who come out to fight, fighters who will face anyone and don’t hide from any opponents. You’ve also got cowards out there like B.J. Penn who say they want to fight people, but then they run and hide. He’s a coward. He wouldn’t be welcomed here.”
Fitch has been one of the most consistent fighters to be ever seen inside the octagon, winning thirteen of his first fourteen fights with the Las Vegas based promotion. Recently however he’s struggled to recapture his form, failing to win either of his last two bouts. He’ll face Erick Silva on the UFC 153 card on October 13th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
