Cheick Kongo still wants to face Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, this time in Brazil
UFC heavyweight contender, Cheick Kongo has today revealed how he’d still like to face Brazilian mixed martial arts legend, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and if he has his way he’d like to do it in the hostile territory of the South American’s home country.
Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Kongo said:
“I would love to fight Big Nog and it would be a huge honor for me to fight in Brazil! I’ve never been there and I know I’ve got a lot of fans from here. Two of my teachers come from your beautiful country: Mario Sukata and Flavio Peroba. Let make it happen!”
“I want to reach my goal: be the next heavyweight champion. The heavyweight division is at its best level. It is a strong and tough category, fighters come from so many countries, from old to young, they master a lot of different sports, from BJJ to Tae Kwon do, this is very exciting!”
Kongo recently picked up a workmanlike win over Shawn Jordan on the UFC 149 card last month in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, a fight he entered with two badly damaged shoulders. Will he get his wish of a showdown with the Brazilian legend down the line? Tell us what you think…
