Chad Mendes responds to bar-fight allegations, vows to clear his name
UFC featherweight contender, Chad Mendes has tonight hit back at allegations made earlier today regarding him sucker-punching a patron during a bar-fight in the early hours of the morning, with the 145 pounder denying any wrong-doing and vowing to clear his name.
The following is a press release sent out by his management team…
“On Friday afternoon, Chad Mendes was shocked and surprised by the allegations contained in an article published on an Internet news site. While Chad acknowledges that an incident occurred last Saturday in Hanford, he contends that the majority of the facts pertaining to him in the story are absolutely false.
Attempts were immediately made by Chad’s representatives to contact personnel at the Sheriff’s Department on Friday afternoon. Despite these repeated attempts, Chad’s representatives have not received any response from the Sherriff’s Department as of the time of this release.
Chad denies any wrongdoing and is very upset by the allegations contained in the story. He will fully cooperate with the Sheriff’s Department and looks forward to clearing his name.”
Mendes is widely considered the number two fighter in the world at 145 pounds and recently picked up a first minute knockout win over Cody McKenzie inside the octagon. Stay tuned to MMABay for more news on this breaking situation as we get it.
