Cain Velasquez wondering what the hold-up is with Junior dos Santos rematch
Former UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez has been speaking about his preparations for a potential rematch with Junior dos Santos, a fight that was expected to go down in September before it was mysteriously pulled from UFC 152, with the Mexican native wondering exactly what the hold-up is as he’s ready to go.
Speaking via Inside MMA, Velasquez said:
“Right now, I’m just getting ready and waiting for a date. We don’t really know what’s going on with the dos Santos thing. The speculation that I was hurt — I got an x-ray to show people that I’m not. There’s speculation that he’s hurt, maybe. I dunno what’s going on. I’m just getting ready and waiting for a date for me and him to fight.”
Velasquez appears to be a man on a mission after suffering his first defeat of his mixed martial arts career to dos Santos last November. He returned to action on the UFC 146 card and demolished Antonio “Big Foot” Silva in the very first round to make a statement. The rematch was expected to take place at UFC 152 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada but was pulled from the card.
