WTF! of the Day – Brandon Vera could secure a shot at the title if he beats Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (UPDATE)

July 30, 2012 All MMA News, UFC  Comments

In a bizarre omission UFC President, Dana White has tonight confirmed that if hapless and down on his luck light heavyweight, Brandon Vera was to defeat Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC on FOX 4 this weekend in Los Angeles, California, then he will secure a shot at the gold… this despite the San Diego native having won just one of his last four fights inside the octagon and with his last major win coming back way back in 2006.

UFC President Dana White today confirmed the plans. When asked about the title stakes White said flatly:

“Yes.”

Rua is coming off a UFC 139 defeat to fellow PRIDE veteran, Dan Henderson last November, going down via unanimous decision on the night. He was expected to be facing Quinton “Rampage” Jackson next but the American was forced into having double knee surgery.

Vera is a strange choice for an opponent for the Brazilian after winning just one of his last four fights inside the octagon. That win came last time out against Eliot Marshall via unanimous decision, with the man dubbed “The Truth” almost throwing it away in the final round.

UPDATE – Jon Jones has just tweeted that he’s “scratching his head” over the news.

Buying Supplements for MMA Training and Hardcore Workouts
Many people ask what type of supplements they should use for MMA training and hardcore workouts. With each person and training program the supplements will vary.  Anyone exerting enormous amounts of energy with their training needs to have a proper diet, lots of rest and quality supplementation. Some of the supplement staples for MMA and hardcore workouts will include Creatine, Whey Protein, BCAAs (Branched Chain Amino Acids), L Carnitine, Beta Alanine and Glutamine.  You may also need extra pre-workout energy and strength with Ephedrine/Ephedra and Prohormones.  As well you will need to replenish nutrients with Multivitamins, Super Greens, Fish Oil and Joint Support Supplements. Make sure to research what the requirements are for your specific training program, and do as much research as possible on each supplement you are taking.
