UFC on FX 5 – Travis Browne rewarded for his patience with headlining fight against Antonio “Big Foot” Silva on October 5th in Minneapolis

July 27, 2012 All MMA News, UFC  Comments

UFC heavyweight star on the rise, Travis Browne has been rewarded for his patience after being forced to pull out of UFC on FOX 4 after his opponent picked up an injury after it was revealed he’d headline UFC on FX 5 alongside former EliteXC champion, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva on October 5th in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

USA Today first revealed the news after speaking to sources close to the Las Vegas based promotion. The fight will go down at the Target Center.

Browne picked up an impression first round submission win via arm-triangle choke back at UFC 145 just last month over Chad Griggs, earning himself an extra few dollars by securing the “Submission of the Night” bonus in the process. His record inside the octagon currently stands at 4-0-1.

Silva began his octagon career with a disappointing first round TKO defeat at the hands of Cain Velasquez. Prior to that he’d been knocked out by eventual winner of the Strikeforce heavyweight grand-prix, Daniel Cormier meaning a win in this one is imperative.
