Tim Sylvia signs with Strikeforce, meets Daniel Cormier on September 29th event
Former UFC heavyweight champion, Tim Sylvia has seemingly been given another shot at the big time after it was revealed he’s been snapped up by Strikeforce to meet grand-prix champion, Daniel Cormier on the promotions September 29th event.
Sources close to the situation revealed the news to MMAJunkie.com earlier today. The fight will be perhaps the last heavyweight fight on the California based promotions books, making it an interesting situation for “The Maine-iac”.
Cormier rose to the top in the Strikeforce heavyweight division after winning the promotions grand-prix tournament, defeating Antonio “Big Foot” Silva in the semi-finals before picking up a unanimous decision win over Josh Barnett in the final.
Sylvia has won seven of his last eight professional bouts and has made an appeal to the fans for his return to the big-time. A twelve second TKO win over Randy Smith seems to have caught the eye of the California based promotions bosses.
