Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza accepts the challenge of Luke Rockhold
Following Saturday’s impressive title defence by Strikeforce middleweight champion, Luke Rockhold the champ called out former title holder, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza for a rematch to finally settle who the better man really is, and unsurprisingly the Brazilian has accepted the challenge before him.
Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Souza said:
“He challenged me because our last fight was so close. He feels he needs to show himself that he’s able to defeat me. If he wants to fight me, I want my belt back. I wanna prove the world that that fight is past and I can defeat him, in five, six or seven rounds. I’d go there with a strategy way better than the last one,” he guarantees. “I won’t let him impose his game, which suffocates the opponent. That was crucial for making the judges give him the win.”
Rockhold has looked impressive since he returned to action from a long-standing injury and eighteen months away from the cage, defeating Souza for the title before putting together back-to-back defences against Keith Jardine and Tim Kennedy. With the likes of Lorez Larkin and Roger Gracie making solid debuts this past weekend, should Souza jump back to the head of the line? Tell us what you think…
