Nate Marquardt would fight Georges St. Pierre if given the chance
Newly crowned Strikeforce welterweight champion, Nate Marquardt has revealed he would be prepared to go team mate vs. team mate and square off with UFC welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre down the line, explaining it’s a matter of proving who the better man is.
Speaking via MMAFighting.com, Marquardt said:
“I have to prove that I am the best, but I truly feel that I am the best. You got believe you are the best if you are the fighter. If you don’t believe you’re the best, then why are you doing it? I gotta believe that, and of course I believe I am better than everyone else. It’s not a shot at Georges personally, you know? We have talked about it, but we will have to cross that bridge when we get there. We know it is a possibility [down the line] so if that’s how it has to be, then so be it.”
Marquardt impressively defeated the previously unbeaten Tyron Woodley this past weekend in Portland, Oregon, picking up the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title in the process. Will “The Great” earn himself a recall to the ranks of the UFC and set up a potential unification fight in the process? Tell us what you think…
