Rashad Evans reveals he’s 50-50 on a potential move to middleweight
Former UFC light heavyweight champion, Rashad Evans has revealed he’s seriously considering a move down to the middleweight division following he’s most recent failed attempt to re-capture gold at 205 pounds, adding he’ll do a practise cut if he does decide to go for it.
Speaking via ESPN.com, Evans said:
“I’ve been thinking about going down to middleweight lately. I haven’t totally made up my mind. It’s something I’m going to think about a little more in the coming months and see where my body’s at, but I’m definitely giving it serious consideration. The odds of me moving down to 185 are 50-50 or better.”
“I’m pretty sure I can make the cut. I’ve never been down that low. If I decide to move down, I will do a practice cut first to make sure my body can do it. That will determine whether I can fight at middleweight or not.”
Evans isn’t exactly the biggest light heavyweight to ever grace the octagon and with a strong wrestling base and knockout power it’s hard to argue against those who feel he’d give Anderson Silva a major run for his money if the two men were to ever meet.
