UFC on FUEL TV 4 – Mark Munoz ready to prove that he’s worthy of a shot at the middleweight title
UFC middleweight contender, Mark Munoz has been giving his thoughts ahead of his UFC on FUEL TV 4 showdown with Chris Weidman this weekend in San Jose, California, explaining he’s ready to prove he’s worthy of the next shot at the 185 pound title.
Speaking via MMAJunkie.com, Munoz said:
“With a win over Chris Weidman, I’m going to prove that I should have the title shot. I don’t think anybody is going to walk into the octagon 100 percent. But my elbow is definitely better from what it was before. I’ve dealt with pressure before. I wrestled at Oklahoma State, and that’s just a pressure cooker. I’m familiar with it.”
When asked about a potential fight with his friend and current middleweight champion, Anderson Silva, Munoz said:
“That’s a touchy subject. I know how he is with fighting friends and training partners. Being a friend of his, I respect his views. We’ll cross that bridge when it comes, but I definitely want to be a champion. I’ve never taken the easy road.”
Munoz carries with him a four-fight winning streak into this one which includes victories over the likes of C.B. Dollaway, Demian Maia and Chris Leben. He was booked to face Chael Sonnen on the UFC on FOX 2 card but was forced to pull out due to injury. Stay tuned to MMABay for more build-up to this one as we get it.
