UFC 148 – Cung Le proves to be too much for Patrick Cote, earns unanimous decision win

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion, Cung Le tonight realised a dream at UFC 148 in Las Vegas, Nevada, defeating former title contender, Patrick Cote via unanimous decision after three hard-fought rounds inside the octagon.

Body kick from Cote is caught and Le uses it to secure a tripped takedown. Le allows him back up after kicking at the legs. Head kick followed quickly by a leg kick from Le. Another body kick from Le. Cote tries to come forward with a combination but Le makes him miss. The two men exchange body kicks. Cote looks for the takedown but is made to pay. Clubbing right hand from Le lands. Side kick from Le as he loosens up. Nice left hand from Le lands. Side kick again from Le lands. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Le.

The two men exchange leg kicks before Cote rushes in with punches. Hopping side kick from Le lands. Nice combination from Cote lands mainly on the arms but much better from the Canadian. Le has cut Cote. Cote to the body before clinching and throwing the knee. Le lands the body kick before looking for a clubbing right. Cote pushes forward with a combination ending in a leg kick. Nice knee followed by a right hand from Le. Cote pushes forward again but Le cuts him off and puts the Canadian on the fence. Cote lands a series of uppercuts but Le stays on him. Close round. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Le.

Side kick from Le pushes Cote back. Cote gets on the inside and engages, giving as good as he gets. Cote needs to wear the older fighter down. Cote clinches and puts Le on the fence where they exchange knees to the body. Spinning back-fist from Cote lands. The two circle before clinching up against the fence. Le scores a momentary takedown but that will score big for him. Cote back to his feet and looks for a takedown of his own but fails to get it. Cote marches forward and the two men exchange as we enter the final minute. Le with another takedown and this time he keeps control. Cote recovers his guard and elbows away but Le will do enough to ride this one out. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Le.

The judges scored the bout 30-27, 30-27, 30-27 in favour of Le.
