UFC 147 – Wanderlei Siva, Rich Franklin, Rodrigo Damm and Marcus Vinicius pick up $65,000 bonus awards
The UFC handed out their customary performance related bonus awards for outstanding action inside the octagon last night following UFC 147 in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, with the main event duo trilling the crowd for five rounds and rightfully earning the “Fight of the Night” award.
Crowd favourite, Wanderlei Silva and Rich Franklin went at it for the full twenty five minutes, with “The Axe Murderer” going into full attack mode during the latter stages of the second round. Despite tiring himself out he was still dangerous in the final minute of the fight but was unable to finish, leaving Franklin to walk away with a unanimous decision.
The “Knockout of the Night” award went to Marcus Vinicius who was dominated by Wagner Campos for the first two rounds. In the end however Vinicius landed a big flying knee, followed by one from the clinch and a barrage of punches to end the fight inside the distance. Featherweight, Rodrigo Damm earned the “Submission of the Night” with a first round rear-naked choke against Anistavio Medeiros de Figueiredo.
