Lorenzo Fertitta says there’s no chance you’ll see Alistair Overeem back in action in December
UFC co-owner, Lorenzo Fertitta has this week ruled out the possibility of seeing top heavyweight contender, Alistair Overeem back in action in the month of December despite the fighters eagerness to compete, explaining until he’s been cleared of all wrong-doing and is fully licensed to compete the Las Vegas based promotion will not be booking him into a match.
UFC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and co-owner, Lorenzo Fertitta, has put a halt to “The Reem’s” declaration saying that no way, no how, would the promotion even think about promoting a fight involving the Dutch striker until he has fulfilled his penalty and successfully reapplied for a license to fight with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), or any other commission, for that matter. ESPN has Fertitta’s comment on the matter, after the jump:
“That’s speculation. It’s in the NSAC’s hands. (The UFC) can’t be presumptuous.”
Overeem was due to face Junior dos Santos for the title last month at UFC 146 but was pulled from the fight after his T:E ratio was as high as 14:1. The Nevada State Athletic Commission didn’t take kindly to being lied to in the past by “The Reem” but did reduce the normal one-year term to nine months after great deliberation.
