Mike Pierce happy to keep beating Brazilian’s until he gets into title contention
UFC welterweight powerhouse, Mike Pierce has been giving his thoughts on what’s next for him at 170 pounds following his latest victory inside the octagon earlier this month, explaining he’s happy to keep pounding on Brazilian’s until he’s ready to compete for the welterweight title.
Speaking via MMAWeekly.com, Pierce said:
“I’m not too sure. I’m okay continuing my reign over the Brazilians and doing that. That’s always fun. I told Joe Silva before this fight on Twitter that I wanted an easy fight and told all the Brazilians to put in their applications. (Rocha) stepped up and took the fight and if anybody else wants to do that, more power to them.”
“Well, eventually I want to win the belt and a Brazilian doesn’t hold the belt right now. I can only do that for so long then I’ve got to move on. That’s always an option; it might happen. I’m not banged up at all. I could probably count on one hand how many times he actually made contact with me.”
Pierce has been swapping wins for losses during the last couple of years inside the octagon, going 3-2 in his last five fights. He was seen this year on the UFC 143 card where he lost via unanimous decision to former title contender, Josh Koscheck before picking up a unanimous decision win over Carlos Eduardo Rocha on the UFC on FX 3 card earlier this month.
