Bellator 71 – Brett Rogers draws Kevin Asplund on June 22nd in Chester, West Virginia
A heavyweight clash between former Strikeforce and EliteXC stand-out, Brett Rogers and impressive prospect, Kevin Asplund has been announced for the Bellator 71 card set to go down June 22nd in Chester, West Virginia.
The upstart promotion announced the news earlier today via their official website. It is thought bout agreements have been signed and returned on both sides.
Rogers is currently in the midst of a 1-4 slump in his mixed martial arts career, a far-cry from opening up with ten straight wins including a first round knockout of Andrei Arlovski. He was last seen in September where he lost a split decision to former UFC veteran, Eddie Sanchez.
If Rogers thinks he has an easy beginning to his Bellator career then think again as Asplund is currently riding a fifteen fight winning streak having only lost his first professional mixed martial arts fight. He hasn’t fought in almost a year though having defeating Reese Hernandez via split decision.
