Paul “Semtex” Daley released by Strikeforce upon request
It has today been revealed that British welterweight knockout artist, Paul “Semtex” Daley has been released from California based MMA promotion Strikeforce, a move the fighter is very happy about after being forced to sit on the sidelines for long periods over the last couple of years.
Daley said in a statement released today:
“I’m happy that Strikeforce has granted my request to be released from their roster as I found it difficult to fight so infrequently. My whole career I’ve wanted to fight as often as possible as it keeps me in the best form and condition.”
“I felt that I put on nothing but entertaining fights while at the organization. The KOs of (Duane) Ludwig and Scott Smith were some great memories for me, as well as the back-and-forth fight of the year I had with Nick Diaz. My manager has already started speaking to some promotions about my future today following the official release papers from Strikeforce, and I’m looking forward to the next part in my journey.”
Daley has really slipped down the ranks at 170 pounds of late, losing his last three fights with Strikeforce to Nick Diaz, Tyron Woodley and Kazuo Misaki. He did pick up a couple of wins on the local circuit during that time, although the names he beat really doesn’t nothing to bolster his position at 170 pounds. Stay tuned to MMABay for news on what’s next for the British knockout artist as we get it.
