Nate Marquardt reveals he’s no longer on TRT ahead of his title showdown with Tyron Woodley
Former UFC middleweight title contender, Nate Marquardt has revealed the rather puzzling news that he’s no longer undertaking testosterone replacement therapy ahead of his showdown with Tyron Woodley for the vacant Strikeforce welterweight title, a statement that will leave everyone scratching their heads.
Speaking via MMAFighting.com, Marquardt said:
“I didn’t know if I was going to be able to fulfill my dreams going that route. I just feel it was so much of a hassle and stress with the commissions and all that, I guess, that the right thing for me to do right now is to choose not to do it. And you know, definitely I’ve pursued a lot of other stuff to try to help my health and a lot of it’s helping. I feel great right now. I’m in really good shape, and that’s not something I’m worried about right now.”
The way I understand it is when you start a course of testosterone replacement therapy to correct an imbalance in your system, you’re on it for life and it’s not a simple case of “oh I’ll drop it this month because it’s too much hassle”. Marquardt’s omission this week simply leaves us all with more questions than ever before ahead of his welterweight title clash later this summer.
