TUF Live Finale results, updates and live play-by-play TONIGHT on MMABay!!!
MMABay will be coming to you LIVE from Las Vegas, Nevada, tonight, the scene of the TUF Live Finale, in order to bring you all the action from the Palms Casino Resort where UFC welterweight contenders, Jake Ellenberger and Martin Kampmann square off in the main event of the evening.
Tune in and check out our round-by-round updates and official results starting at approximately 6.00pm ET (3.00pm PT/11.00pm UK).
We’ll be covering the entire card, top-to-bottom, from the co-main event clash between reality show finalists, Michael Chiesa and Al Iaquinta to the preliminary card battle between John Albert and Erik Perez. TUF Live Finale play-by-play live main card commentary:
Jake Ellenberger vs. Martin Kampmann (170-pound division limit)
Round one: Slow start from both men before Ellenberger wades in. Ellenberger connects with a big left hook and he drops Kampmann. “The Juggernaut” looks to finish but Kampmann covers up and gets his senses back. Ellenberger is in the guard of Kampmann looking to pull the Dane’s hips away from the fence. Ellenberger is doing just enough so far to avoid the stand-up as he has Kampmann pinned up against the fence. Kampmann starts to look for the guillotine off his back as Ellenberger ties up his legs. Kampmann gets back to his feet and the two men exchange knees from the clinch. Kampmann looks for a takedown up against the fence. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Ellenberger.
Round two: Low kick from Ellenberger. Kampmann counters nicely with the hands and the two exchange. Big bombs fired from Ellenberger again as the Dane is busted up and wobbly. Kampmann counters again nicely as Ellenberger gets wild. Ellenberger looks a little wobbly himself after eating a shot. The two men clinch and Kampmann delivers a couple of big knees that drop Ellenberger. A few hammer-fists and the referee stops it.
Final result: Martin Kampmann, (T)KO, 2nd round.
Michael Chiesa vs. Al Iaquinta (155-pound division limit)
Round one: Iaquinta with a couple of big right hands to begin with. Chiesa throws a kick but Iaquinta catches it and lands a right hand. Chiesa drops for a single but he can’t get the fight to the ground. Low kick from Chiesa lands. Superman punch from Iaquinta scores. Iaquinta catches another kick but he misses with the punch. Chiesa takes Iaquinta’s back and takes him to the ground, securing the hooks as he goes. Chiesa is looking to lock up the choke and does so. Iaquinta goes to sleep.
Final result: Michael Chiesa, submission (rear-naked choke), 1st round.
Charles Oliveira vs. Jonathan Brookins (145-pound division limit)
Round one: Oliveria with the leg kick attacks to begin with. Brookins pumps the jab in return as he looks to push forward. The two clinch and exchange big knees. Nice right hand from Oliveira lands as Brookins drops his guard. Big flying knee lands from Oliveira but Brookins uses it to take the Brazilian to the ground. Oliveira almost locks up an arm-bar from his back but Brookins pulls free. Brookins allows Oliveira back to the feet. Big right hand from Oliveira rocks Brookins but he survives. Oliveira with a nice couple of combinations and it seems Brookins is in a lot of trouble. Brookins fires back and lands himself. Big couple of knees from Oliveira to end the round. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Oliveira.
Round two: Oliveira starts the second with a leg kick. The pace has slowed in considerably in this round. Big right hand from Oliveira followed by a flying knee. Oliveira looks for the takedown but Brookins wraps the neck looking for a possible guillotine. He scores the takedown and is in the mount of Brookins. Short elbows from Oliveira before slapping on a D’Arce and the fight is over.
Final result: Charles Oliveira, submission (D’Arce), 2nd round.
Max Holloway vs. Pat Schilling (145-pound division limit)
Round one: Holloway with a high kick but it’s blocked. Schilling shoots in against the fence and looks for the takedown. He switches from a single to a double and back to the single but is shrugged off. Body kick from Holloway lands. Schilling shoots in again before rolling for a knee but doesn’t get it. Nice spinning back-fist from Schilling lands but Holloway comes back with a right hand. Holloway is going to the body and doing a lot of damage. Holloway goes to the body before stuffing the takedown. Flying knee from Holloway before Schilling rolls for the leg. The bell maybe saved Holloway there. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Holloway.
Round two: Schilling avoids a spinning attack and looks to take the fight to the ground. Nice straight punches from Holloway land. Big right hand from Holloway lands. Holloway lands a couple of big shots that see Schilling wobble and drop to his back. Holloway allows him back to his feet and pours it on with punches and knees from the clinch. Holloway stuffs another takedown attempt. Big body shots from Holloway land. Schilling is desperately going for a takedown but he can’t complete them. Spinning back-fist from Schilling lands. Holloway drops Schilling late on but he can’t stop it before the bell. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Holloway.
Round three: Holloway marches forward with eight jabs. Schilling scores with a straight right which backs Holloway up. Schilling shoots but Holloway stuffs it. Nice combinations from Holloway land as he keeps the pressure on. Another nice left hook to the body lands from Holloway. Big shots from Holloway drop Schilling before he waves him back to his feet. Holloway stuffs another takedown before landing yet another nice combination. Holloway gets flashy by using the cage to push off and drops Schilling with a resulting punch. Schilling back up. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Holloway.
Final result: Max Holloway, unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Justin Lawrence vs. John Cofer (155-pound division limit)
Round one: Lawrence with a side kick but Cofer uses it to take him down to the ground. Lawrence gets back up, catches a kick from Cofer and dumps his opponent to the deck. Both men back up. Cofer rocks Lawrence with a left hand. Nice little combination from Cofer lands. Left hook from Lawrence lands. Lawrence is beginning to light his opponent up on the feet. Both men exchange in what’s been an entertaining round thus far. Lawrence with a left hook, this time it wobbles Cofer a little. Nice little counter from Cofer. Jumping knee from the clinch by Lawrence. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Lawrence.
Round two: Cofer with a nice flurry, ending with a body kick. Solid combo from Lawrence ends with a head kick. Wild exchanges by both men as they look to secure a clear advantage. Lawrence is marching forward throwing punches and landing them mainly. Both men land left hooks. Cofer is winging shots and lands a nice knee. Cofer manages to clinch and slams Lawrence to the ground, taking his back in the process. Lawrence sneaks out the back door and lands a big punch. Cofer ties Lawrence up in his guard. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Cofer.
Round three: Lawrence comes out swinging. Big high-kick from Lawrence lands and knocks Cofer out cold.
Final result: Justin Lawrence, KO, 3rd round.
TUF Live Finale play-by-play live preliminary card commentary:
Daron Cruickshank vs. Chris Tickle (155-pound division limit)
Round one: Cruickshank shoots straight in and looks for the takedown but is caught in a guillotine. Can he escape? The answer is yes. He postures up and looks to throw down but Tickle does a good job of tying him up. Tickle pushes off and gets back to his feet but Cruickshank soon has him back on the ground. An illegal up-kick seems to land to the face of Cruickshank. A point is deducted from Tickle. Tickle comes out firing and looks for a takedown of his own this time. Cruickshank forces his way off the cage and trips Tickle to the ground. Big elbows begin to land from Cruickshank from the guard. Cruickshank keeps the pressure on until the bell sounds. MMABay scores the round 10-8 Cruickshank.
Round two: Cruickshank misses with a spinning back-kick. Tickle looks to get aggressive with a couple of nice combinations before forcing his opponent to the ground and securing a D’Arce. Cruickshank breaks free and is in the half-guard. Nice scramble almost sees Tickle take the back but instead he recovers full guard. The referee stands them up after a period of inactivity. Cruickshank with a big head-kick before Tickle fells him with a big right hand. Tickle looks to finish but Cruickshank ties him up in the guard. Tickle passes to half-guard and keeps the pressure up until the bell. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Tickle.
Round three: The two men trade kicks with Cruickshank getting the better of it. Tickle fires with the hands before dragging the fight to the ground. Scramble and Cruickshank manages to gain top position after almost giving up his back. Short ground and pound from Cruickshank lands up against the fence before preventing Tickle from cage-walking. Tickle does get to his feet but Cruickshank scores with a quick trip and mounts. Cruickshank with a bunch of elbows. Tickle manages to get him off and in a scramble gets his opponent on his back. Cruickshank locks up a guillotine but Tickle gets free and takes his back for a second. Cruickshank bucks him off and finishes the fight on top. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Cruickshank.
Final result: Daron Cruickshank, unanimous decision (29-27, 29-27, 29-27).
Myles Jury vs. Chris Saunders (155-pound division limit)
Round one: Both men come out throwing a lot of body kicks as they feel each other out. Nice push kick from Jury. Saunders with a leaping left-hook. Jury keeps Saunders at bay with his jab and teep kicks. Jury catches the kick and throws the right. Nice right hand over the top from Jury ends a combination. Another right from Jury lands before attempting a flying knee. Saunders uses it to take the fight to the ground and has a guillotine. A little struggle from both men and Jury tightens it up. Saunders taps.
Final result: Myle Jury, submission (guillotine choke), 1st round.
Cristiano Marcello vs. Sam Sicilia (155-pound division limit)
Round one: Sicilia is the man coming forward to begin the fight looking to use his advantage on the feet. Sicilia with a couple of wild swings before stuffing a takedown attempt. Marcello comes forward and catches Sicilia but eats a big right hand for his troubles. Leaping left-hook from Sicilia lands. Nice combination from Sicilia as he looks to up the pressure on the Brazilian. Sicilia trips Marcello to the ground but is cautious with the Brazilian on his back and back away. Again he trips Marcello to the ground following an exchange before backing away. Sicilia is missing more and more as the round wears on. Marcello drops down looking for a leg but there’s nothing there. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Sicilia.
Round two: Sicilia is winging punches to begin the second round. Marcello with a nice combination before looking for a single-leg. Sicilia stuffs it. Sicilia presses forward and the two exchange right hands. Marcello pushes the pace and lands a nice combination both to the body and head. Big shots by Sicilia including a knee up against the fence and Marcello drops. Big ground and pound lands from Sicilia and the referee steps in.
Final result: Sam Sicilia, (T)KO, 2nd round.
Jeremy Larsen vs. Joe Proctor (155-pound division limit)
Round one: Both men exchange in the center of the octagon. Larsen goes to the body before following up to the head. Proctor with a heavy right hand. Nice flurry from Larsen both to the head and the body. Proctor lands a couple if right hands before a big knee drops Larsen to the canvas. The referee steps in and that’s it.
Final result: Joe Proctor, (T)KO, 1st round.
John Albert vs. Erik Perez (135-pound division limit)
Round one: Perez with a low kick to begin, Albert soon answers with one of his own. Nice exchange by both men before Albert pressures Perez up against the fence. Perez reverses the situation and moves away. Low kick from Perez before a furious exchange by both men. Albert looks for a takedown, gets it before jumping onto his back. Perez scoots out and shakes Albert off his back, dropping into the guard of his opponent. Albert locks up a triangle from his back but Perez looks to pound his way free. Perez is showing a lot of heart and Albert rolls for an arm-bar. Perez gets free and locks up an arm-bar of his own. The referee stops it much to the disappointment of Albert.
Final result: Erik Perez, submission (arm-bar), 1st round.
