Josh Koscheck reveals the UFC asked him to try and “stir up something” with B.J. Penn
Former UFC welterweight title contender, Josh Koscheck has this week revealed he was asked by his employers to attempt to create a conflict between himself and former two-division champion, B.J. Penn in the hopes of luring the Hawaiian out of retirement and back into the octagon.
Speaking via MMA Uncensored Live, Koscheck said:
“Me and B.J. have a good relationship. It’s business, and, you know what? I like to have big fights. I think that B.J. is the type of fighter that would be a big fight for me. The UFC asked to try and stir up something. You know, I do my job well, and I went on to my Twitter account, and just kinda said, ‘Hey, B.J. Let’s do this fight.’”
Penn has won just one of his last five bouts inside the octagon. His victory over Matt Hughes is his only one since December 2009, with losses coming at the hands of Frankie Edgar (twice) and Nick Diaz. Stay tuned to MMABay for more news on this situation as we get it.
