Shane Carwin cleared to resume full training, targets a fall return to the octagon
Former interim UFC heavyweight champion, Shane Carwin has today revealed he’s been cleared for full contact training following extensive surgery on his back over the past six months, as well as informing his fans that he’s already been in touch with matchmaker Joe Silva over a fall return to action inside the octagon.
Posting via his official website, Carwin said:
“I informed UFC Matchmaker (Joe Silva) that I would like to fight in early fall 2012. I would like to be able to fight every three or four months. Barring injury I intend to leave the UFC octagon and head back to the Grudge Training Center to continue the climb.”
“I have spent my entire career dealing with injuries sustained through football. I am 100% and I feel like a younger version of my former self. The UFC should look into adding some padding in the gloves because I plan on crushing my opponents.”
Carwin has suffered back-to-back losses for the first time in his career, losing out to then champion, Brock Lesnar via second round submission and almost twelve months later Dos Santos via unanimous decision. Let’s hope this recent bout of back surgery returns “The Engineer” to his former glory as quickly as possible. Stay tuned to MMABay for more news on when and where he’ll return to the octagon as we get it.
