UFC 148 – Rousimar Palhares reveals he turned down Chael Sonnen’s attempts to train with him
UFC middleweight submission machine, Rousimar Palhares has today revealed that he turned down advances from current number one contender at 185 pounds, Chael Sonnen, to train with him in the build-up to the trash-talkers UFC 148 title fight with Anderson Silva.
Speaking via Tatame Magazine, Palhares said:
“He asked to train with me for Anderson but I’m not training anyone. Murilo said his coach has called him saying he wanted to come and train with me, but I said I won’t do it. I’m rooting for Anderson. A fight is a fight… If he fights as much as he talks… Let’s see.”
Sonnen will take on current middleweight champion, Anderson Silva at UFC 148 on July 7thin Las Vegas, Nevada. The two men met back at UFC 117 with Sonnen dominating the champion for four and a half rounds, taking the fight to the ground in each and every round. With two minutes left on the clock Silva slapped on a triangle choke to force the tap, retaining his title in the process. Sonnen booked his rematch with wins over Brian Stann and Michael Bisping.
