Randy Couture says Brock Lesnar should “definitely” be included in the UFC “Hall of Fame”
Five-time UFC champion and legend of the mixed martial arts world, Randy Couture has this week been making a case for Brock Lesnar’s inclusion in the Las Vegas based promotion’s “Hall of Fame”, explaining not only did he climb to the top of the tree in impressive fashion but he also helped grow the sport with his following from professional wrestling.
Speaking via MMAMania.com, Couture said:
“I think he definitely should be. Anybody who’s been in there and won the title, whether it be four fights or six fight or whatever. I think he made a huge impact in our sport. I think he brought that whole WWE crowd, too. We saw that in the pay-per-view numbers that he put up, every time he fought. I think it’s justified. I think he definitely should be included in the Hall of Fame.”
Lesnar’s octagon debut didn’t go exactly to plan as he was submitted in the first round by Frank Mir despite hammering the former champion for much of the fight. Subsequent wins over Heath Herring, Randy Couture, Mir in their rematch and Shane Carwin left many thinking he could be unstoppable… that was until he ran into the striking prowess of Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem. Stay tuned to MMABay for more on this as we get it.
