Ronda Rousey vs. Sarah Kaufman targeted for July 14th Strikeforce show in Portland, Oregon
The July 14th Strikeforce show in Portland, Oregon is shaping up to be one of the most stacked events of the year after it was revealed the women’s bantamweight title clash between current champion, Ronda Rousey and former champion, Sarah Kaufman has been targeted.
Strikeforce CEO, Scott Coker revealed the news during the post-fight press conference last night in San Jose, California. If it turns out to be true the fight would be the third title fight on the bill with the middleweight and vacant welterweight titles set to feature.
Rousey is undefeated at 5-0 in her mixed martial arts career and captured the title in March when he almost ripped the arm off then champion, Miesha Tate. The ultra-talented judoka has won her first five fights in a combined time of 7:15.
Kaufman became the number one contender on the same card with a win over the gutsy Alexis Davis. She is currently 15-1 overall and is on a three-fight winning streak since losing her title to Marloes Coenen back in October 2010. Stay tuned to MMABay for more build-up to this one as we get it.
