Fedor Emelianenko CONFIRMS his next fight will be his last
Formerly ranked number one mixed martial artist on the planet, Fedor Emelianenko has today CONFIRMED that his next fight will be the last of his storied career, meaning any fans hoping that he could somehow come to terms with those over at UFC headquarters will be left disappointed for an eternity.
Speaking to Ukrainian MMA journalist Artem Yalanskiy, Emelianenko said:
“My previous fight was in Moscow and my last fight will be in St. Petersburg on June 21st. It will be the last fight in my career.”
When pressed on whether this would be it, Emelianenko replies:
“Yes. I think it’s time to end my career.”
Fedor has won his last two fights since his three-fight setback under the Strikeforce banner, defeating Jeff Monson and Satoshi Ishii to close out 2011. Prior to that he’d lost to Fabricio Werdum, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva and Dan Henderson. He’ll face Pedro Rizzo on July 21st in St. Petersburg, Russia.
