UFC 146 – A slimmed down Antonio “Big Foot” Silva looking forward to his big opportunity
UFC heavyweight contender, Antonio “Big Foot” Silva has been speaking about his upcoming fight with Cain Velasquez at UFC 146 on May 26th in Las Vegas, Nevada, revealing he’s never been in this kind of shape just a few weeks out from stepping inside the cage.
Speaking during tonight’s pre-fight press conference call, Silva said:
“For first time I’m at 270 three weeks out of the fight. Things are going extremely well, I’m very light and fast. We’re diametrically opposed. I have jiu-jitsu and he has wrestling. I see his speed and his lightness and I’m trying to counter it. I faced three great opponents in Strikeforce, [Fabricio] Werdum, Fedor, and Arlovski, now I get the chance to face guys like Velasquez. It’s a great opportunity the UFC has given me.”
Silva hasn’t been seen since he was knocked out by Daniel Cormier at the semi-finals stage of the Strikeforce heavyweight grand-prix. He had defeated Fedor Emelianenko in their quarter final bout via second round TKO (doctors stoppage). Stay tuned to MMABay for more build-up to this one as we get it.
