UFC on FOX 3: Diaz vs. Miller results, updates and live play-by-play TONIGHT on MMABay!!!
MMABay will be coming to you LIVE from East Rutherford, New Jersey, tonight, the scene of UFC on FOX 3, in order to bring you all the action from the IZOD Center where UFC lightweight contenders, Nate Diaz and Jim Miller meet in the main event of the evening.

We’ll be covering the entire card, top-to-bottom, from the co-main event clash between welterweights, Josh Koscheck and Johny Hendricks to the preliminary card battle between Roland Delorme and Nick Denis. UFC on FOX 3 play-by-play live main card commentary:
Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller (155-pound division limit)
Round one: Miller with a nice leg kick early. Diaz boxes his way into range before clinching and looking to land the knee. Miller pushes Diaz up against the fence and looks to control. Both men exchange short punches knees and elbows. Miller slips and Diaz kicks to the body of his opponent on the way up. Diaz lands a nice right hand as he attempts to get his boxing going. Diaz clinches and puts Miller up against the fence. Miller turns it around as he seems to be the stronger of the two men. Miller looks for a takedown but Diaz defends it well and lands a knee to the face before punching to the body. Miller fires off with kicks to the body. Diaz lands a straight left and drops Miller to his knees. Miller looks for a takedown in desperation and in a mad scramble almost takes the back of Diaz. Another scramble see Diaz take top position before the final bell. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Diaz.
Round two: Nice leg kick from Miller which causes Diaz to wave him forward. Diaz clinches up against the fence once again but eats an elbow over the top. Diaz clinches again and puts Miller up against the fence where he looks to strike and control. Miller with a right hand over the top but Diaz comes back with a left. Diaz lands a couple of knees from the clinch before slapping Miller a couple of times. Miller responds with a flying knee which just causes Diaz to roar and call him on. Diaz secures the front head-lock and lands the knee to the face. Miller drops down to avoid another before getting free. Miller looks worn out at this early stage. Nice uppercut from Diaz before he stuffs the takedown and locks up the power guillotine. Miller taps for the first time in his career.
Final result: Nate Diaz, submission (guillotine), 2nd round.
Josh Koscheck vs. Johny Hendricks (170-pound division limit)
Round one: Front kick from Koscheck early. Big left hand from Hendricks is slipped and countered by Koscheck. Koscheck pins Hendricks up against the fence and unloads. Hendricks looks wobbly early. More punishment from Koscheck is dealt out. Hendricks looks for a takedown but isn’t even close. Hendricks with a nice uppercut and a left hand before taking the fight to the ground for a moment. Koscheck back to his feet but he’s pinned against the cage eating knees to the thighs. The referee breaks them up. Hendricks lands the left once again. Koscheck soon answers with a right before Hendricks looks to take it down again. Koscheck gets free and unleashes a big flurry. Body kick from Koscheck lands. Hendricks flurries forward to end the round. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Hendricks.
Round two: Hendricks pushes forward from the off but misses mostly. Nice uppercut from Hendricks. Hendricks looks for the takedown but loses it and Koscheck winds up taking his back up against the cage. Hendricks manages to get back to his feet. Hendricks shoots in again and this time gets a partial takedown. Koscheck gets back to his feet but is eating knees to the thighs. The referee separates them. Koscheck misses with a big right but Hendricks lands a nice combination. Koscheck shoots in but is shrugged off. The two exchange positions against the cage as Koscheck gets off before they separate. Koscheck fires the head kick but it’s blocked. Nice flurry from Koscheck but there’s little behind it. Hendricks goes for a late takedown and doesn’t get it. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Hendricks.
Round three: Hendricks backs Koscheck up with strikes. Koscheck looks for the takedown and stuffs Hendricks up against the fence. Hendricks starts to knee away to the head before the referee separates them. Nice combination from Koscheck as he pushes the pace. Both men tag each other with big shots. Big uppercut from Hendricks lands which seems to hurt Koscheck who fires straight back. Koscheck puts Hendricks up against the cage but is turned around. The referee breaks them up. Body kick from Hendricks followed by the knee to the face. Koscheck clings on and secures the takedown. Koscheck looks to move from half-guard to a better position. Short elbows from Koscheck before going to the body repeatedly. Ten seconds remaining. Dominant finish by Koscheck. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Koscheck.
Final result: Johny Hendricks, split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).
Rousimar Palhares vs. Alan Belcher (185-pound division limit)
Round one: Belcher walks Palhares down and pumps the jab. Front-kick up the middle from Palhares misses. Palhares dives on a leg and takes the fight to the ground. Crazy position on the ground as Belcher looks to secure a number of unorthodox submissions. Palhares rolls to his knees and has hold of Belchers leg. Belcher punches his way out of it and the two continue to exchange positions on the ground. Palhares has the heel of Belcher again but again he slips out. Belcher decides to stay in the guard of Palhares and drops big elbows. He pours it on and the referee steps in to finish the fight.
Final result: Alan Belcher, (T)KO, 1st round.
Pat Barry vs. Lavar Johnson (265-pound division limit)
Round one: Big leg kick from Barry to begin before Johnson locks up and pushes him up against the fence. Barry pushes away and the two exchange big shots. Again they clinch following a kick from Barry and Johnson goes to work with the knees. Johnson tees away on Barry as he has him pinned up against the cage. Barry looks for a takedown but Johnson stuffs it. Scramble and Barry moves to the mount. Barry decides to move to side control and he looks for an Americana. Johnson survives after it looked tight. Johnson finally scoots out and gets back to his feet. Barry lands the leg kick before eating a couple of big knees. Head kick from Johnson knocks Barry to the ground. Barry gets back to his feet but Johnson pins him up against the fence and unloads on him for fifteen seconds. Eventually Barry drops and the fight is over.
Final result: Lavar Johnson, (T)KO, 1st round.
UFC on FOX 3 play-by-play live preliminary card commentary:
Tony Ferguson vs. Michael Johnson (155-pound division limit)
Round one: Low kick from Johnson to begin. Another lands from Johnson. Johnson is landing the low kick at will to the inside of the leg of Ferguson. The two men continue to exchange but it’s Johnson getting off first and more often right now. Johnson drops Ferguson with a big left hand but he can’t capitalise as his opponent bounces right back up. Johnson continues to chip away at the legs of Ferguson. Johnson looks outstanding on the feet tonight. Big flurry from Ferguson to end the round but it’s not enough to take it. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Johnson.
Round two: Johnson looks to continue the kicking style he had in the first round. Nice combination lands from Johnson. Ferguson lands the kick and then checks one coming the other way. Nice combination from Ferguson lands, answered by Johnson. Nice left hand from Ferguson sneaks though before the two exchange with Johnson getting the better of it. Body shot from Ferguson before the two swing wildly and miss mostly. Short uppercut from Ferguson lands but Johnson comes back with a couple of nice combinations. Johnson attempts a takedown and fails. Ferguson misses with a spinning back-fist to end the round. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Johnson.
Round three: Ferguson with a nice combination to begin. Inside leg kick from Ferguson. Johnson catches a kick and makes Ferguson pay with a big punch. Johnson is looking slick on the counter. Ferguon with a nice right buckles his opponent for a second. Ferguson scores with a leg kick but Johnson fires straight back with a left hand. Ferguson needs a finish at this stage of the fight. Another left from Johnson sneaks through and lands to the jaw of Ferguson. Johnson looks for the takedown but it’s stuffed. Johnson misses with the left before landing a flying knee. Johnson becomes aggressive and lands the right hand over the top. Nice counter left from Johnson, and again. Great performance. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Johnson.
Final result: Michael Johnson, unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
John Dodson vs. Tim Elliott (125-pound division limit)
Round one: Elliott with a side kick early but Dodson moves away. Both men fly through the air looking to land but nothing significant lands. Dodson barely misses with a head kick before almost getting taken down. Dodson has to fight off another takedown attempt but does so. Big exchanges from both men before Dodson has Elliott down for a second. Nice little counter from Dodson. The reality show winner is looking to throw bombs but Elliott is covering up. Dodson gets the fight to the ground before Elliott looks to take an arm. Both men return to their feet. Nice left from Elliott lands. Dodson misses with a flying knee. Bad poke in the eye from Dodson to Elliott. A doctor has been called in to assess the condition of Elliott who seems to be saying he can’t see properly. He tells the doctor he’s ok to continue. The fight resumes. Dodson lands a couple of big shots as Elliott gets wild with all sorts of crazy shots. Flying knee from Dodson ends the round. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Dodson.
Round two: Elliott is clearly having a hard time opening his eye. Dodson with a head kick that knocks Elliott off balance. Elliott with a wild kick just to prove he’s not out of it just yet. Nice combination from Dodson but Elliott with a couple of nice left hands. Right hook from Dodson lands flush on the jaw but Elliott takes it and continues to move forward. Dodson is throwing short elbows now but they’re coming up… short. Elliott gets crazy again, desperate for a takedown but somehow Dodson rolls his way out of it to safety. Nice couple of hooks from Dodson land before the reality show winner scores with a low blow. Brief stoppage. The fight resumes and Dodson goads Elliott in for a big takedown. Elliott back up and he lands a knee. The round ends. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Dodson.
Round three: Nice exchange by both men sees Elliott take a little tumble. Dodson is throwing elbows on the left side as he seems to have broken his hand. Nice knee from Elliott lands. Nice left hand from Elliott lands as Dodson stumbles a little. Elliott gets through over and over with one-two combinations. Elliott looks for a single leg but Dodson spins away and the fight resumes on the feet. Knee from Dodson lands to the mid-section. Dodso with a series of leg kicks land. Elliott fires back with straight punches that all get through. Elliott pours it on looking for a late finish but he just can’t land the right shot. Another flurry from Elliott lands but Dodson survives. Double flying knee to end the round. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Elliott.
Final result: John Dodson, unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
John Hathaway vs. Pascal Krauss (170-pound division limit)
Round one: Hathaway jabs away early, keeping the German at bay. Straight right from Hathaway followed by a kick. Hathaway reaches for a takedown but doesn’t get it and instead throws a kick. Nice combination from Krauss lands. Hathaway looks for the takedown again and this time throws the knee, dropping Krauss to his back. Hathaway looks to finish but Krauss recovers and ties the Brit up in his guard. Hathaway attempts to posture but Krauss does a good job of tying him up and eventually stands. Low kick from Krauss lands. Hathaway again goes for the takedown before missing with the knee this time. Krauss scores with the takedown before moving to half-guard. Hathaway hang on under increasing pressure. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Hathaway.
Round two: Hathaway abandons a flying knee before getting aggressive with a takedown. Krauss looks to control on the ground from the bottom but Hathaway stays busy and lands decent ground and pound from the top. The fight begins to stall a little bit before Krauss forces his way back to his feet. Inside leg kick from Hathaway lands before Krauss answers with a combination of his own. Hathaway with a nice overhand right before dropping under with an uppercut. Krauss looks for the takedown as the two men exchange knees. Krauss has control up against the fence but the two separate. Sloppy exchanges to end the round. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Hathaway.
Round three: Hathaway jabs away to begin the third round before landing the low kick. Nice right hand from Hathaway. The Brit is mixing it up before shooting in for a takedown. He get’s it. Nice ground and pound from Hathaway lands before he looks for the choke. Krauss gets back to his feet and it’s Hathaway that engages quickly with a flying knee to keep the pressure on. Spinning back-fist from Hathaway lands before Krauss answers with a leg kick. Hathaway is looking the fresher and using his footwork to good effect. Another flying knee attempt from Hathaway before Krauss ties him up against the fence looking for the takedown. Hathaway lands a big knee to the nose on the break as Krauss looks to be in trouble. The Brit can’t finish it but he’ll surely win via decision. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Hathaway.
Final result: John Hathaway, unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27).
Louis Gaudinot vs. John Lineker (125-pound division limit)
Round one: Both men exchange with the hands once, twice and more times. Crazy opening to this flyweight contest. Lineker lands a nice uppercut during a flurry but Gaudinot just keeps coming. Spinning back-fist from Gaudinot misses. Lineker mixes it up with a couple of nice kicks before going to the body with punches. Both men are continuing to land over and over with kicks and punches, no sign of a takedown as yet. Lineker goes to the body but Gaudinot fires straight back with punches to the head. Gaudinot shoots in and scores with a takedown (we did just say…). Gaudinot lands with some nice ground and pound before Lineker looks for a leg lock. Gaudinot avoids and takes control again, finishing the round with ground and pound. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Gaudinot.
Round two: Nice combination to open the second round by Gaudinot. Head kick from Gaudinot blocked. The two men continue to exchange but in this round is seems Gaudinot is happy to throw the kicks as well, especially the left high-kick. Lineker backs Gaudinot up and pins him against the fence with a barrage of body shots. Gaudinot clinches, looking for a little respite, and takes control against the fence. They separate and Lineker just keeps coming forward. Gaudinot shoots in as planned by his corner and scores with the takedown. Elbows from the bottom from Lineker before Gaudinot looks to answer with a barrage of his own. Lineker attacks the legs again but Gaudinot pounds away and punishes his attempted submission. Lineker looks to stand and Gaudinot locks up a tight, tight guillotine. Gaudinot puts his opponent to sleep with time running out.
Final result: Louis Gaudinot, submission (guillotine choke), 2nd round.
Danny Castillo vs. John Cholish (155-pound division limit)
Round one: Cholish has won eight in a row and Castillo five out of six. Not much action in the first minute. They clinch and Castillo backs Cholish into the fence. Cholish breaks free, heads to center Octagon. Goes for a big head kick and just misses. Cholish catches Castillo with a single leg, gets a takedown, but Castillo gets right back up. Halfway through and they’re back standing in the middle of the cage. Not much action, a few in the crowd boo. Round’s still open for either to win with a minute left. A standing grappling match more or less ends in a stalemate. Kind of a pick ‘em round, Cholish was a bit more active. MMABay scores round one for Cholish, 10-9.
Round two: Cholish scores a takedown 25 seconds in. They’re back on their feet, Castillo connects with an overhand but still not much action. Crowd booing. Still circling midway through the round. Cholish lands a jab. Cholish shoots for a takedown and doesn’t quite land it. Back to their feet. Still circling and sizing each other up. Castillo lands a left. Castillo has Cholish backpedaling. This will not go down as one of the greatest rounds in MMA history. Castillo with a big slam at the horn. MMABay scores round two for Castillo, 10-9.
Round three: Both men come out looking to strike and Castillo lands the jab. Cholish answers with an inside leg kick. Nice quick takedown by Castillo but Cholish pops straight back up to his feet. Castillo presses his opponent up against the fence and has his head tied up in a loose guillotine attempt. Cholish lets go and drops down for a leg lock but misses it and Castillo takes control from top position. Cholish manages to get free and the pair resume their battle on the feet. Cholish scores with the jab as he looks to keep Castillo at bay. Big swings from Castillo miss but to be fair he’s the one pressing the action as the final minute approaches. Cholish drops down again for a leg but Castillo gets free and postures up for some late ground and pound. MMABay scores the final round 10-9 Castillo.
Final result: Danny Castillo, unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Dennis Bermudez vs. Pablo Garza (145-pound division limit)
Round one: Crowd is strongly behind Bermudez, a Long Island native. Bermudez misses with a left, grabs a leg, and scores a slam. Garza up, Bermudez hangs on to a standing guillotine along the fence. Garza breaks it and hits a knee. Mulhall warns them to get busy and Bermudez responds with another slam. Both guys active on the ground as Bermudez ends up in Garza’s guard. Bermudez creates some space, gets up, and basically walks into several upkicks. Garza winds up on his back again and is working for subs from the bottom, but Bermudez stays busy in the top position. Both fighters back to their feet with about a minute left. Bermudez, who appears to be bleeding from the nose, takes a front kick to the face. Bermudez scores a late takedown as the round ends. MMABay scores round one for Bermudez, 10-9.
Round two: Early action finds the two clinched and working for position along the fence. That lasts until Bermudez scores another seemingly effortless slam. Bermudez connects with several looping lefts and Garza lands several elbows from the bottom. Still on the ground with about two minutes left, Bermudez the busier of the two but neither fighter doing much damage. Both fighters back up with a minute and a half left, but that doesn’t last long, as Bermudez scores a pro-wrestling-esque slam. Garza trying to find an opening for a sub but there’s nothing. They’re up late and Bermudez scores a last-second trip. MMABay scores round two for Bermudez, 10-9.
Round three: Twice Bermudez appeared to be going for a Superman punch and twice Garza stopped him. Garza looked to be going for either a flying triangle or arm bar, but Bermudez caught him and slammed him to the mat. Ground work is a repeat of the first two rounds, Bermudez more active but not doing a ton of damage. Mulhall stands them up midway through the round. Bermudez gets him to the mat and tries to take Garza’s back, but can’t. Bermudez stands, Garza threatens upkicks. Bermudez positions himself back on top of Garza and starts to open up with punches as Garza covers up. Bermudez gets his back and gets a rear-naked choke with 30 seconds left. Garza holds on for dear life and makes it to the final horn. Should be a clear-cut victory for the local favorite.MMABay scores round three for Bermudez, 10-9.
Final result: Dennis Bermudez, unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
Roland Delorme vs. Nick Denis (135-pound division limit)
Round one: A burst of early action sees both guys attempt takedowns, and they end up in a Greco clinch. Delorme attempts a trip, but Denis resists and turns it into a judo throw. Denis follows him to the ground and nearly walks into an arm triangle for his troubles. The two work their way back to their feet two minutes into the round, and after some work in close along the fence they re-set in the middle of the cage. Denis gets the best of the standup, connecting with a big left, a big uppercut and a knee. They go to the ground and Denis ends up in Delorme’s guard. Delorme works for a sub, but Denis slithers out and wants to bring it standing again. They’re up, Delorme opens up with a flurry of punches and sinks in a rear-naked choke. Denis taps just before the horn sounds. Solid comeback win for Delorme. Denis was winning the round when he brought it back standing and paid the price.
Final result: Roland Delorme, submission (rear-naked choke), 1st round
Mike Massenzio vs. Karlos Vemola (185-pound division limit)
Round one: Massenzio goes for a single-leg, but Vemola defends. They clinch along the cage, Massenzio throws an below and scampers to saety. Greco clinch in center Octagon, Massenzio hits a knee and unloads a couple shots. They wind up standing along the fence, Vemola goes for a choke as they hit the ground, but Massenzio escapes and he ends up in top position. They’re up with about two minutes left and clinching along the fence. Vemola goes for a takedown, doesn’t get it, and the end up on the ground with Massenzio holding a front face lock on Vemola. Massenzio gets side control and tries to work a North-South choke, but Vemola spins out of it and back to his feet. Veloma scores a slam as the horn sounds. MMABay scores the round 10-9, Massenzio.
Round two: Massenzio gets Vemola in a guillotine on the ground early, but Vemola escapes, lands seven left hands to the side of Massenzio’s head, gets his back and sinks in a rear-naked choke. Massenzio taps.
Final result: Karos Vemola, submission (rear-naked choke), 2nd round.
