Anderson Silva was very unhappy at having to face Chael Sonnen in Las Vegas, argued with Dana White for 75-minutes
It has today been revealed that while UFC middleweight champion, Anderson Silva didn’t publically lash out at his boss, Dana White when it was announced he’d be fighting Chael Sonnen in Las Vegas, Nevada and not Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he did engage him in a heated discussion behind the scenes that lasted 75-minutes.
A report from Gustavo Noblat of OGlobo.com reveals Silva initially refused to change the venue of the fight despite White’s arguments that Rio wouldn’t have the sufficient infrastructure to hold the fighting event.
The following transcript is part of the discussion between the two men:
Silva – “He deserves to taught a lesson here, I owe this to my people.”
White – “If there is no way how to make the event in a stadium, it has to be in Las Vegas.”
Silva – “Okay, so tell me – what do you want from me?”
White – “I want you go to Las Vegas and perform well, make it a great fight.”
Silva – “If it has to be like this, I will beat this guy wherever. He deserves a lesson.”
The two men met back at UFC 117 with Sonnen dominating the champion for four and a half rounds, taking the fight to the ground in each and every round. With two minutes left on the clock Silva slapped on a triangle choke to force the tap, retaining his title in the process. Sonnen booked his rematch with wins over Brian Stann and Michael Bisping.
