UFC looking to screw over Quinton “Rampage” Jackson by giving him Alexander Gustafsson next
It has today been revealed that the UFC are looking to match their former light heavyweight champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson up against top prospect turned contender at 205 pounds, Alexander Gustafsson for his final fight inside the octagon.
A source close to the situation revealed the news to Fighters Only Magazine earlier today, adding the Las Vegas based promotion had targeted the winner of the recent UFC on FUEL TV 2 main event this past weekend to take on Jackson.
“Rampage” had been asking for a fight against former PRIDE rival, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua to see out his octagon career but a double knee surgery means the UFC may look to keep the Brazilian busy with other options. Jackson has reportedly turned down several other opponents of late including Phil Davis but may be rail-roaded into a fight with the Swede.
Jackson may find it difficult to handle the movement and range of Gustafsson after struggling against similar opponents in the past. With the UFC not exactly on the best of terms with their want-away star, this one has all the makings of setting Jackson up to fail. Stay tuned to MMABay for more news on this one as we get it.
