Dana White praises Roy Nelson but admits he’s unsure what the future holds
UFC President, Dana White has been heaping praise on “Ultimate Fighter” season ten winner, Roy Nelson despite the heavyweight coming up short once again inside the octagon last night in Las Vegas, Nevada, adding he’s unsure what the future holds for “Big Country”.
Speaking at the UFC 143 post-fight press conference, Nelson said:
“I don’t know. We’ll see what happens. I mean the guy brings it. He comes to fight. I just – you wonder what he could do if he really, really trained and got into it. I’ve been telling Roy forever if Roy took himself serious – for instance, Roy had moments there. He rocked Werdum once with a couple of shots. If he was in good enough shape to keep that kind of a pace, he would win more fights.”
“I don’t know. I think you either have it or you don’t. You have these guys that have knockout power and guys that don’t. I don’t know what difference your weight would be. It’s one thing if you were talking about a guy’s weight being explosive and athletic as to being 265 pounds. He’s tough though. He’s so tough. He’s one of the toughest guys I’ve ever seen.”
Nelson has now lost three of his last four fights inside the octagon, going down at the hands of Junior dos Santos, Frank Mir and now Fabrico Werdum. The sole win during this period was a third round TKO win over Mirko Crop Cop back in October 2011. Stay tuned to MMABay for more on this as we get it.
