UFC 129 results, updates and live play-by-play TONIGHT on MMABay!!!
MMABay will be coming to you LIVE from Toronto, Ontario, Canada tonight, the scene of UFC 129, in order to bring you all the action from the Rogers Center where former UFC welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre will take on number one contender, Jake Shields in the main event of the evening.

We’ll be covering the entire card, top-to-bottom, from the co-main event clash between featherweight champion Jose Aldo and Mark Hominick to the preliminary card battle between Charlie Valencia and Ivan Menjivar. UFC 129 play-by-play live main card commentary:
Georges St. Pierre vs. Jake Shields (170-pound division limit)
Round one: Low kick early from Shields before St. Pierre backs the challenger up. Low kick from St. Pierre lands. Shields has hold of a leg and pushes him up against the fence where he looks to land a few knees. St. Pierre swaps positions before separating. The pair continue to exchange on the feet and Shields is holding his own. Nice jab from St. Pierre lands as he loosens up. Big right hand from St. Pierre lands. A jab sends Shields flying backwards, and again. Shields has hold of a leg but St. Pierre soon pulls free and they continue to exchange. Superman punch lands from St. Pierre and soon after a big overhand right. MMABay scores the round 10-9 St. Pierre.
Round two: Low kick from Shields lands early but St. Pierre is getting through often with punches. Nice right hand from Shields lands. The two exchange low kicks and it’s clearly St. Pierre who is being the more effective. Big overhand right from St. Pierre lands which rocks Shields. Spinning back kick to the body lands from St. Pierre. He’s having his way with Shields. St. Pierre catches Shields with that overhand right again which once again rocks him. Low kick lands from St. Pierre before Shields dives for a takedown. All St. Pierre at this point. MMABay scores the round 10-9 St. Pierre.
Round three: Shields out quickly in the third, pushing forward and looking for the clinch. St. Pierre tags him with a jab. The pair exchange kicks and the pace slows. The big right lands from St. Pierre before he stuffs a takedown. Big leg kick from Shields before landing a short left hand. Shields seems bewildered but lands a good kick to the body. Spinning back kick from St. Pierre glances this time. St. Pierre dumps Shields to the ground with less than thirty seconds remaining and ties him up. MMABay scores the round 10-9 St. Pierre.
Round four: St. Pierre with the early takedown but he quickly backs out and stands. The jab continues to land from St. Pierre as he keeps control on the feet. Shields is walking the Canadian down a little bit but eats a right hand for his troubles. Head kick lands from St. Pierre which drops Shields to the deck. Shields get back to his feet seconds later. St. Pierre continues to land the jab but he’s bloodied up now surprisingly. Overhand right from St. Pierre lands. Good jab from Shields. Jabs land from St. Pierre to end the round. Round five: Shields rushes in looking for something in the last round but St. Pierre shrugs him off. Superman punch from St. Pierre lands. Big right lands from St. Pierre backing Shields up. Nice combo staggers Shields as he comes forward. Another overhand right lands from the champ. Both men continue to exchange, St. Pierre looking to protect his lead. Shields needs to take a chance but he’s not doing, crazy! The pair exchange jabs in the final few seconds befor e St. Pierre ties Shields up against the fence. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Shields.
Final result: Georges St. Pierre, unanimous decision (50-45, 48-47, 48-47).
Jose Aldo vs. Mark Hominick (145-pound division limit)
Round one: Aldo with a nice comblo to begin, followed by a leg kick. Nice uppercut from Aldo followed by another leg kick. Liver shot by Aldo followed by another kick to the leg. Hominick clips Aldo with the left but eats another leg kick. Aldo slips but he’s back up. Aldo keeps chopping away over and over before taking Hominick to the ground. Hominick with an arm bar attempt but Aldo’s out. Aldo stacks Hominick up and looks to land the elbows but it’s slow going. Big right hand lands from Aldo. The pair are stood up and it’s not long before Aldo lands another kick before taking it back to the ground. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Aldo.
Round two: Aldo looks tired to start the second as he moves slower. Hominick lands with a couple of nice shots before avoiding the takedown. Hominick lands again before avoiding another takedown. Hominick with knees from the clinch. Aldo slips the punch and secures the takedown this time. Nothing much doing but Hominick eventually gets back to his feet. Aldo secures another takedown after a brief exchange. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Aldo.
Round three: Hominick again looks the fresher but Aldo is trying to get back into it, landing a couple of hard leg kicks. Hominick stuffs the takedown and comes back with a nice one-two combination. Big leg kick from Aldo lands before he gets a brief takedown. Hominick back up and avoids the punches. Hominick with the jab, landing at will and sliding out the way of anything coming back. Big right from Aldo drops Hominick to the ground and he looks to pour it on from top position. Hominick recovers well and Aldo recognises it and relaxes off the attack, happy to just keep position at this stage. The round ends with nothing much doing. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Aldo.
Round four: Hominick with the jab to begin the fourth round but Aldo soon answers with a hard leg kick. Big right hand from Aldo followed by a body kick. Hard leg kick from Aldo lands once again. Aldo has his wind back and is walking his opponent down in this round. More leg kicks land from Aldo as he makes Hominick pay. Nice combo from Aldo ended by a low kick. Big right drops Hominick to the ground again and Aldo pounces. Big right hands from Aldo but it’s unlikely to finish the fight. Massive swelling on the head of Hominick, this needs to be stopped. The referee calls in the doctor and crazily it’s going to continue. Aldo keeps the pressure on and gets the takedown again. The round winds up with Aldo on top. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Aldo.
Round five: Aldo with a big leg kick to begin the final round. The pair exchange and Hominick takes Aldo to the ground. Hominick is pouring with blood but lands a big left hand. Another big shot from Hominick lands as it’s do-or-die for him right now. Aldo looks tired as he tries to fight him off but the blows keep coming steadily. Big lefts land again from Hominick from the guard but Aldo is doing enough to stay active. Huge shots from Hominick to the body of the champ followed by a left to the jaw. The round ends with Aldo hanging on. MMABay scores the round 10-8 Hominick.
Final result: Jose Aldo, unanimous decision (50-43, 48-46, 49-46)
Randy Couture vs. Lyoto Machida (205-pound division limit)
Round one: Both men with a cautious start before Couture throws a big right but misses. Machida lands a right hand as Couture comes forward. Couture looks for a takedown before throwing the right hand. Big left hook from Couture lands. Low kick lands from Machida before following up with an uppercut from the clinch. Side kick to the leg from Machida lands. Quick right hand lands from Machida. Big knee lands from Machida before he fights Couture off in the clinch. Couture with another takedown attempt is failed before Machida slips away from the clinch. Body kick from Machida lands. Big knee again by Machida lands to the body. MMABay scores the bout 10-9 Machida.
Round two: Machida with a nice combo as Couture looks to duck under. Big left hand lands from Machida. Jumping front kick to the face drops Couture like a bag of spuds to the canvas. Amazing! The fight is over.
Final result: Lyoto Machida, (T)KO, 2nd round.
Vladimir Matyushenko vs. Jason Brilz (205-pound division limit)
Round one: Matyushenko gets the better of the early exchange and lands a big right hand. Matyushenko follows up second later with another big right hand, this time an uppercut, followed by a left hook which drops Brilz to the canvas this time. A few short hammer fists later sees the referee jump in.
Final result: Vladimir Matyushenko, (T)KO, 1st round.
Benson Henderson vs. Mark Bocek (155-pound division limit)
Round one: Both men with a cautious start before Bocek secures the clinch up against the fence. Henderson turns it around and lands a knee to the body. Both men continue to struggle in the clinch as they both land knees. The referee separates them. Henderson lands with a high kick but Bocek lands a nice right before going back to the clinch. Once again Henderson turns it around and delivers an elbow before splitting. Henderson with a nice couple of combinations. The former WEC champion is turning it up on the feet.Bocek looks for the takedown up against the fence but Henderson punches him in the face as he does so. Bocek secures the takedown but Henderson gets his back up against the fence. Bocek muscles him down but he can’t really do much from the guard of Henderson. The round ends. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Henderson.
Round two: Henderson starts the second pumping his jab. Bocek pushes Henderson up against the fence and lands with the takedown. Henderson gets back to his feet by using the threat of the guillotine to create space. Henderson has Bocek up against the fence this time as he lands a couple of nice knees. The referee seperates them and Henderson lands with a heavy leg kick. Another takedown and this time Henderson lands on top and looks to throw down. Bocek looks for a leg lock but Henderson throws down and gets free. Henderson pushes Bocek up against the fence but Bocek snaps him down and gets the front head lock. Bocek looks for an anaconda choke but he cant get it so he swaps to a guillotine. Henderson slips out and throws a series of knees and elbows which hurt Bocek. Big knee from Henderson lands before Bocek pushes him up against the fence. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Bocek.
Round three: Bocek with an early takedown in the third and Henderson is clearly disappointed. Elbows from Bocek lad but Henderson sweeps and winds up on top, landing a series of right hands. Henderson is swept himself and Bocek takes his back in a standing position. Henderson gets free and puts him up against the fence. Big knee from Henderson before he trips Bocek to the ground. Both return to the feet and Henderson goes to work with elbows and knees again. A left hand from Henderson backs Bocek up but he soon after secures a takedown. Bocek in half-guard with thirty seconds left but he can’t hold him down. Both men flurry at the end but nothing big lands. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Henderson.
Final result: Benson Henderson, unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
UFC 129 play-by-play live preliminary card commentary:
Nate Diaz vs. Rory MacDonald (170-pound division limit)
Round one: MacDonald with an attempted high kick before he lands with a low one. Another kick lands from MacDonald. MacDonald lands a nice right hook before Diaz pushes him up against the fence in the clinch. MacDonald looks to land the uppercut. The two break but land nothing significant before MacDonald pushes Diaz up against the fence and lands the knee. Diaz switches it round and gets the advantage. MacDonald lands a knee and the round ends. MMABay scores the round 10-9 MacDonald.
Round two: MacDonald gains the clinch to begin the second but soon lets go. The pair flurry in and MacDonald pushes Diaz up against the fence, looking for the takedown. He gets it and lands a couple of nice punches before Diaz returns back to his feet. MacDonald with another takedown and he winds up in the full guard of his opponent. He backs out and stands, as does Diaz who catches a right hand for his troubles. Diaz lands with a straight left hand before the two exchange big shots in the clinch. Diaz with another nice shot before pushing MacDonald up against the fence. MacDonald breaks away but Diaz soon has him back there seconds later. Diaz trips MacDonald to a knee but he’s soon back to his feet. Diaz with a couple of nice right hands before they both swing wildly. Diaz has MacDonald up against the fence again but the Canadian break free and lands a couple of flying knees. Nice combo by MacDonald to end the round. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Diaz.
Round three: High kick attempt from MacDonald misses. MacDonald pushes Diaz up against the fence but Diaz looks for a takedown. It backfires as MacDonald winds up on top and takes his back standing. MacDonald picks Diaz up twice and slams him to the canvas. MacDonald in half-guard but he backs out and stands. Big shots from above by MacDonald but Diaz gets back to his feet. Another big slam from MacDonald as he dumps Diaz on his head. Diaz back up again and this time he shoves MacDonald up against the fence. The pair break but MacDonald soon has Diaz up against the fence again. MacDonald dumps him on his back and looks to land with just under a minute to go. Elbows from MacDonald land from above. Diaz gets back up but the fight ends. MMABay scores the round 10-9 MacDonald.
Final result: Rory MacDonald, unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26).
Jake Ellenberger vs. Sean Pierson (170-pound division limit)
Round one: Both men start out by trading punches and kicks but neither gets the upper hand. Ellenberger with a quick takedown but Pierson soon gets back up. Big bombs land from Ellenberger before clinching and landing a knee. Big left hand thrown by Ellenberger lands and Pierson drops to the deck. A few short hammer fists sees the referee jumps in.
Final result: Jake Ellenberger, KO, 1st round.
Claude Patrick vs. Daniel Roberts (170-pound division limit)
Round one: Patrick shoots in and takes the fight to the ground immediately. Patrick looks to move to side control but Roberts has hold of a kimura. Roberts manages to shrug him off than the two return to the feet. The two lock up and Roberts gets the advantage up against the fence, looking to score with the takedown and land with a knee. Patrick lands a couple of nice knees himself before the two separate. Patrick with a nice left hand before pushing Roberts up against the fence again. Patrick again with the takedown. Patrick secures an armtriangle but is soon returned to the guard. Roberts shrugs him off but Patrcik pours it on with big shots to the head and body. Patrick ties him up to end the round. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Patrick.
Round two: Roberts opens up with his kicks but Patrick soon fires back. Roberts gets the takedown this time but Patrick ties him up and scrambles back to his feet. The two exchange but Patrick lands a big knee from the clinch. The two again lock up in the clinch but this time Roberts manages to secure the takedown. Roberts in side control is soon returned to half-guard by Patrick as he goes to work with hammer fists. Patrick escape to the feet after Roberts almost secures him back. Leg kick from Patrick lands. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Roberts.
Round three: Roberts with a nice body kick to open the third and final round. Patrick pushes him up against the fence before taking him to the ground. Roberts manages to shake him off and Patrick misses with a knee as they stand. Roberts looks for the takedown but it’s stuffed. Roberts pushes his opponent up against the fence and looks for the takedown but he’s tiring with every second spent. Roberts eventually secures the takedown late on but he winds up on the bottom. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Patrick.
Final result: Claude Patrick, unanimous decision (292-8, 29-28, 29-28).
Ivan Menjivar vs. Charlie Valencia (135-pound division limit)
Round one: Valencia with a couple of nice kicks to open before Menjivar comes back with a hard right hand. Menjivar secures the clinch and delivers a devastating short elbow, dropping Valencia to the canvas. A series of quick punches sees the referee step in quickly.
Final result: Ivan Menjivar, (T)KO, 1st round.
Jason MacDonald vs. Ryan Jensen (185-pound division limit)
Round one: Jensen swings in with two wild punches but misses and MacDonald clinches. Jensen drops down for a guillotine but MacDonald pops out and quickly takes his back. Jensen shrugs him off and winds up in top position but he’s not out of danger yet. MacDonald looks to secure the triangle and does so. Jensen tries to punch his way out but finally taps out.
Final result: Jason MacDonald, submission (triangle choke), 1st round.
John Makdessi vs. Kyle Watson (155-pound division limit)
Round one: Cautious start from both men but it’s Watson pushing forward throwing a number of kicks. Watson lands a low kick but Makdessi lands a nice left hook. Big leg kick from Watson lands but Makdessi comes back with a flurry. Watson with the clinch and he looks to land the knee but Makdessi lands as he breaks free. Hook kick from Makdessi almost lands. Superman punch lands from Watson but Makdessi comes back with a left hand. Both men land blocked shots in the final seconds. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Makdessi.
Round two: Low kick lands from Makdessi as he looks much lighter on his feet. Makdessi with a nice jab on the walk-away. Big head kick lands from Watson but Makdessi doesn’t look fazed. Makdessi with the front leg side kick but Watson absorbs it. Makdessi with the left hook which lands. Big spinning kick from Makdessi lands as he looks to turn up the pace. Big left hook from Makdessi lands again. Front leg side kick lands again from Makdessi. Makdessi lands a series of punches to end the round as Watson backs away. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Makdessi.
Round three: Side kick lands from Makdessi, answered by a high kick from Waston. Watson clinches and pushed Makdessi up against the fence. Makdessi breaks away and somehow cuts Watson. Spinning back fist from Makdessi decapitates Watson. Unbelievable!
Final result: John Makdessi, KO, 3rd round.
Yves Jabouin vs. Pablo Garza (145-pound division limit)
Round one: Jabouin starts off with a series of low kicks. Over and over he lands to open before Garza lands a big right hand which drops him. Jabouin quickly back to his feet and continues to chop away at the legs, dropping Garza this time to his back. The pair exchange kicks this time but it’s Jabouin who gets the better of it. Garza gains the clinch, throwing a couple of nice knees before attempting a flying triangle attempt. Jabouin rolls out but Garza winds up in the mount. Garza switches back to the triangle, rolling to his back and forces his opponent to tap.
Final result: Pablo Garza, submission (triangle choke), 1st round.
