Strikeforce matchmaker confirms Alistair Overeem will take on Bobby Lashley at Dynamite!! 2010

December 18, 2010 Uncategorized

In a blockbuster move, Strikeforce matchmaker, Rich Chou has confirmed that their heavyweight champion, Alistair Overeem will take on former WWE superstar, Bobby Lashley at Dynamite!! 2010 on December 31st in Japan, with DREAM’s version of the title likely up for grabs.

On fan questioned Chou about the fight via his Twitter page earlier today and the following response came back…

“Its going down in Dream. Some massive boys in the ring for that one.”

Overeem has recently captured the K-1 World Grand Prix title to add to his Strikeforce heavyweight title, something which has received mixed reactions from the fans. With fights against the likes of Fedor Emelianenko and Fabricio Werdum looming for 2011 a win over Lashley would be a nice way to reintroduce himself to the MMA world.

As for Lashley, he suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Chad Griggs under the Strikeforce banner and left the promotion after his contract wasn’t extended. He holds notable wins over Bob Sapp and Wes Sims but a fight with “The Reem” is defeinately the biggest fight of his short career to date.
