UFC lightweight fighter, Donald Cerrone has tonight been involved in a backstage brawl at the Evolution Combat Sports event in Clovis, New Mexico, cutting fellow fighter, Marcus Sursa in the process and forcing him out of the main event as a result.

This from the Na Koa MMA Podcast:

The brawl was apparently about a young lady now dating the UFC 155 lb fighter Donald Cerrone who used to date main event fighter of the evening Marcus Sursa. Comments were exchanged after Sursa returned from a trip to the rest room and Cerrone was overseeing the warm-ups of several Jackson MMA fighters on the card this night, some words were exchanged by the two and then a shove followed by Cerrone throwing a punch causing a laceration on the eye of Sursa, he responded with a punch cutting the lip of Cerrone. All told, Sursa was now out of the main event tonight against Buddy Roberts of Reno, NV due to the cut he suffered.

Cerrone is a major hot-head ad has landed himself in hot-water on more than one occasion with his bosses at Zuffa. Earlier this year he made it public that he hoped to make Jamie Varner the first fatality of mixed martial arts, a comment that was quickly withdrawn by man fighter simply dubbed “Cowboy”. I wonder when he’s going to learn that this sort of behaviour just doesn’t fly…
