WEC 51 results, updates and live play-by-play TONIGHT on MMABay!!!

MMABay will be coming to you LIVE from Broomfield, Colorado tonight, the scene of WEC 51, in order to bring you all the action from the 1st BANK Center where WEC featherweight champion, Jose Aldo will take on “Ultimate Fighter” season five runner-up, Manny Gamburyan in the main event of the evening.

Tune in and check out our round-by-round updates and official results starting at approximately 6.30pm ET (3.30pm PT/11.30pm UK).

We’ll be covering the entire card, top-to-bottom, from the co-main event clash between Jamie Varner and Donald Cerrone to the preliminary card battle between Mike Brown and Cole Province. We’ll have it all. To discuss the action please use the comments section or tune in to the chat room.

WEC 51 play-by-play live main card commentary:

Jose Aldo vs. Manny Gamburyan (145-pound division limit)

Round one: Gamburyan throws a bomb from the off which grazes the champion. Aldo lands a nicely timed knee to the body before following up with a low kick as the challenger moves in. Both men stay patient and display a lot of good footwork. Aldo lands a kick to the body. Gamburyan looks to throw a lot of feints to confuse the Brazilian but Aldo continues to land a lot of leg kicks to the thigh. Gamburyan shoots in with time running out but Aldo does enough to stay on his feet. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Aldo.

Round two: Gamburyan shoots in early in the second but Aldo once again avoids. Another leg kick from the Brazilian. Aldo land a nice uppercut which firstly wobbles Gamburyan before dropping him to the ground. Aldo followed him down, landing a series of heavy shots from above before the referee is forced to step in and stop the fight.

Final result: Jose Aldo, TKO, 2nd round.

Jamie Varner vs. Donald Cerrone (155-pound division limit)

Round one: Cerrone sprits to meet Varner at the opening bell but is quickly tied up. Varner lands a left hook but Cerrone lands a hard knee which sends his opponents mouthpiece flying. Varner back off and the referee replaces the mouthpiece. The pair clinch and Cerrone almost wrestles Varner to the ground. Varner lands an uppercut and escapes the situation. Cerrone does secure a takedown midway through the round but Varner is back to his feet quickly. Cerrone lands a leg kick while Varner misses with a wild right hand. Cerrone buckles Varner with a left hook. Varner bides himself a little time by shooting in before firing back with a hard combination to end an action packed round. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Cerrone.

Round two: Cerrone backs Varner up from the bell in the second before ducking under a hook and taking the former champion down. Cerrone moves to side-control and then north-south position. Varner regains his feet before Cerrone fires off a head kick which is partially blocked. Varner’s left eye is bleeding. Cerrone moves in again and lands a nice left hand. Cerrone buckles Varner with a leg kick with a minute remaining in the round. Varner shoots in for the takedown but Cerrone avoids easily, taunts his opponent and then lands a series of blows. Varner looks dejected at the bell. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Cerrone.

Round three: Varner tries a takedown to open the third but fails. Cerrone lands a nice kick. Varner looks tired but lands a straight right. Cerrone shrugs it off but eats another from the former champ. Cerrone looks composed and shoots in for the takedown before landing a series of elbows from top position. Varner gets free and back to his feet. The two men exchange leg kicks before Varner attempts a last hurrah with a big bomb but misses. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Cerrone.

Final result: Donald Cerrone, unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

Miguel Torres vs. Charlie Valencia (135-pound division limit)

Round one: Torres takes the center in the early going as Valencia circles. Torres lands a nice jab two minutes in but it’s slow going at this point. Torres goes on the offensive, landing some nice strikes before pushing Valencia up against the fence. Torres lands a series of knees to the body before the two men break. Torres lands an illegal low blow. After gathering himself, Valencia restarts with a hard leg kick. Torres drops his opponent late in the round with a straight right but he fails to finish the fight as Velencia covers up well on the ground.

Round two: Valencia dives for a takedown early but can’t get it. Torres lands a nice high kick, knocking Valencia to the ground. He looks for the finish but allows him back to the feet. A well placed knee puts Valencia on his back again. Quickly Torres takes his back and lack on a body triangle. He works for the rear-naked choke and after a brief struggle forced Valencia to tap.

Final result: Miguel Torres, submission (rear-naked choke), 2nd round.

Chan Sung Jung vs. George Roop (145-pound division limit)

Round one: Roop with a lot of movement early on but Jung just wants to fight. The pair clinch against the fence briefly before separating. Jung with a nice hook but Roop returns fire with a straight right. Jung catches a kick from Roop but can’t complete the takedown. Jung tries to push the action with a minute remaining but gets tagged for his troubles. Roop keeps his distance and closes out the round. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Roop.

Round two: Jung comes out trying to stalk Roop in the second but eats a head kick for his troubles. Jung fires a combo and lands a nice right before Roop returned with a flurry of his own. Roop suddenly throws a head kick out of no where and knocks the Korean cold inside the cage.

Final result: George Roop, knockout, 2nd round.

Leonard Garcia vs. Mark Hominick (145-pound division limit)

Round one: Garcia pumps the jab to begin and has a high kick blocked. Hominick begins to stalk Garcia, throwing out a jab of his own. Garcia with a nice combo but Hominick answers with a shot to the body. Hominick block another high kick. Garcia with a leg kick but he stumbles and eats a hard jab. Garcia begins to swing wildly but Hominick stays calm and pick him apart with his jab. Hominick really is peppering Garcia. The round ends with a nice low kick from Garcia. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Hominick.

Round two: Hominick avoids a series of bombs thrown at him to open the second and lands a nice counterpunch. Hominick with a jab but he’s cut. A straight right from Hominick lands soon countered by a heavy leg kick from Garcia. A nice one-two lands from Hominick, and again. Hominick lands a left hook this time, followed by a straight right. Garcia’s nose is bleeding. Garcia lands a nice right hand on the bell. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Hominick.

Round three: Garcia begins with a leg kick before charging in looking to land lefts and rights. Hominick lands a nice jab. Garcia knows he needs a finish but he’s just eating jab after jab. Garcia looks tired so Hominick turns up the pace, delivering his jab at speed now. A right cross from Hominick lands nicely before he stuffs a takedown attempt. Garcia wades in again but gets dropped momentarily this time for his troubles. Garcia continues to desperately slug away but Hominick picks him apart up until the final bell. MMABay scores the round 10-9 Hominick.

Final result: Mark Hominick, split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28).

WEC 51 preliminary card quick results:

Zhang Tie Quan vs. Pablo Garcia (145-pound division limit)

Final result: Quan, submission (guillotine choke) 1st round.

Mike Brown vs. Cole Province (145-pound division limit)

Final result: Mike Brown, TKO, 1st round.

Chris Horodecki vs. Ed Ratcliff (155-pound division limit)

Final result: Chris Horodecki, split decision (28-29, 30-27, 30-27).

Tyler Toner vs. Diego Nunes (145-pound division limit)

Final result: Diego Nunes, unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).

Antonio Banuelos vs. Chad George (135-pound division limit)

Final result: Antonio Banuelos, unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).

Demetrious Johnson vs. Nick Pace (135-pound division limit)

Final result: Demetrious Johnson, unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
