Fedor Emelianenko to feature in SPIKE TV’s “Best of PRIDE” series according to Dana White
In an interesting move, former PRIDE heavyweight champion, Fedor Emelianenko will be featured in season two of SPIKE TV’s “Best of PRIDE” series according to UFC President, Dana White.
Fedor, who until his loss to Fabricio Werdum in June was widely considered the number one heavyweight in the world, was undefeated in his four year Pride career which included victories over the likes of Mirko Cro Cop, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Mark Coleman. Much has been made of the Russians apparent refusal to sign on the dotted line with the UFC with the Judo master choosing to fight elsewhere.
As to why the UFC have now decided to feature Fedor in the second series is open for debate but the timing of the move suggests the UFC want something in return. Whether that could be exposing Fedor to a greater audience fresh off a loss or showing him the sort of exposure they can offer. Either way, we will also see other Pride legends like Wanderlei Silva, Kazushi Sakuraba included in the second series of “Best of Pride”. Stay tuned to MMABay for more on thsi as we get it.
