WEC 52 – Urijah Faber vs. Takeya Mizugaki set to go down in Las Vegas on November 11th
Former WEC featherweight champion, Urijah Faber will make his much anticipated bantamweight debut against Takeya Mizugaki at WEC 52 in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 11th.
Faber was due to face Mizugaki at WEC 51 in September until a knee injury forced him to withdraw from the card. Sources close to the situation revealed to MMAWeekly.com earlier today that bout agreements have been sent and should be signed shortly.
Faber, currently 23-4 MMA, decided to drop down a division after unsuccessfully challenging Brazilian wrecking ball, Jose Aldo for the WEC featherweight title at WEC 48 in April. Arguably the most known featherweight in the world, Faber had previously held the featherweight belt for over four years and defended it five times.
The “California Kid” will face a tough bantamweight baptism as he takes on Japanese star, Takeya Mizugaki. The twenty-six-year-old fighter most recently outpointed Rani Yahya at WEC 48 and has also scored a split decision victory over Jeff Curran at WEC 42. He made his WEC debut on April 5th, 2009 against Miguel Torres for the bantamweight title but saw the judge’s rule in favour of Torres after five gruelling rounds. WEC 52 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada on November 11th. Stay tuned to MMABay for all the latest news as we get it.
