UFC 123 – Karo Parisyan welcomed back to UFC, will face Dennis Hallman in Detroit on November 20th
Less than a year after UFC President, Dana White said Karo Parisyan would never again fight inside the octagon, the former welterweight contender will return against Dennis Hallman at UFC 123 in Detroit, Michigan on November 20th.
Both fighters have yet to sign the necessary agreements but have verbally agreed to the fight. Parisyan, currently 19-5-0, 1 NC, has only fought once since being asked to leave the UFC last November – a submission victory over Ben Mortimer at Impact FC 1 in July – after withdrawing from his UFC 106 fight against Dustin Hazelett the day before the weigh ins.
In his time in the UFC, the Armenian born fighter notched up wins over the likes of Nick Diaz, Matt Serra and Josh Burkman. In what turned out to be his last UFC fight for the foreseeable future, Parisyan originally scored a split decision win over Korean star, Kim Dong-Hyun at UFC 94 only for the result to be overturned after he tested positive for the painkillers oxymorphone and hyrdomorphone.
Hallman, currently 43-13-2, 1 NC, most recently outpointed Ben Saunders at UFC 117 last month and is perhaps best known for submitting UFC legend Matt Hughes twice in a combined total of thirty eight seconds; first in 1998 and secondly in 2000 at UFC 29. UFC 123 will feature a light heavyweight clash between former champions Quentin “Rampage” Jackson and Lyoto Machida and will take place in Michigan on November 20th.
